Total Impact of Tariffs and Retaliatory Tariffs

What is the total dollar impact to the US economy of tariffs and retaliatory tariffs by and against the United States, versus the cost to Russia of any/all additional sanctions that have been imposed by the Trump administration against them (i.e., excluding those imposed under the Obama administration)?

How do you define “total dollar impact”? How much is being paid to the US government in tariffs? How much is being paid to the Chinese government in tariffs? Estimates on changes in economic activity due to the tariffs or the worry of future tariffs? The knock on effects of decisions made due to fear of a trade war?

Or in other words, I don’t think your question has much of a GQ answer.

The media is citing numbers like “$200 billion in tariffs against China”. I believe that they mean that they expect a $200 billion hit to China’s GDP per year.

That would be what I am looking for. (Except, for America.)

Are you sure? Most articles I’ve read say things like “tariffs on $200 billion worth of imports” (example).
