Total number of votes by party in 2014 election?

I did try searching. Does anyone have the nationwide totals for the Republican and Democratic Parties in the recent midterm elections?

Oh, oops! I think that’s House of Representatives.

Americans don’t actually vote by party, even when they select a “straight ticket” on the ballot. In Missouri in 2012, for example, Mitt Romney, a Republican, got the most votes for President, Claire McCaskill, a Democrat, got the most votes for Senator, Jay Nixon, also a Democrat, got the most votes for Governor, and the combined votes for all the Republican congressional candidates exceeded the combined votes for all the Democratic candidates. And none of those offices got the same number of total votes as any of the others.

Velocity’s cite is fine, as far as it goes, but it’s only one slice of the vote.

Thank you. I was most interested in the House results. Much appreciated.
