Touchscreen monitor trouble

Hey guys–

By stroke of luck, I’ve acquired (for free!) an Eizo L350P touchscreen LCD monitor. It’s a little dated, but works great for viewing (am using it now)… but, it doesn’t seem to respond to the “touchscreen” part. I plugged in the VGA cord, display is fine, and it also has a serial(?) plug built in… plugged that into the serial port, and I thought I’d be good to go.

Windows XP (32 bit) doesn’t recognize any new hardware (though it does know, via Device Manager, the serial number/type of monitor), and the Eizo website didn’t have any drivers or suggestions. The only thing on their site is a monitor “Calibration” program – basically just runs a grey screen and gives step by step instructions for tweaking horizontal lines, vertical lines, etc – no touch troubleshooting.

Any ideas? I ran a quick Google, but all I got were sites selling the monitor.

If you need anymore info about my system, let me know!

You need a driver that tells Windows that your monitor is also a “mouse”. Is there perhaps a USB port on the monitor that you need to route to the computer? This might be how the monitor advertises its mousyness.

Nope – just the serial plug. I plugged that into the computer already, no dice.

I have an old MicroTouch monitor which similarly has a serial cable as it pre-dates USB. You need to install a driver for it as it won’t be plug&play :frowning: Try googling the model number, you may even find a manual online.

I can’t use my touchscreen monitor though, as it is so old its resolution is only 640x480 and I can’t find a machine that goes lower than 800x600 :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:
