Wasn’t quite sure whether to put this in Politics or even the Pit. If the Mods feel the need to move it, go right ahead.
Anyway, TPUSA, apparently taking offense that Bad Bunny is playing the Super Bowl, is putting on their own halftime show featuring the wholesome stylings of Kid Rock, along with Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett (I can’t say I’ve heard of those last three artists).
I do find it hilarious that this is airing on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Aren’t these the guys who once insisted that rock ‘n’ roll was evil? Glad they’ve changed their attitudes. I do wonder, though, if Kid Rock will perform his song “Balls in Your Mouth” or “You Never Met a Motherfucker Quite Like Me.” Maybe he’ll do “Cool Daddy Cool,” which features the following lyrics:
Young ladies, young ladies, I like 'em underage, see
Some say that’s statutory (But I say it’s mandatory)
Anyway, does anyone here plan to tune in to this dumpster fire
Not me. In one of my rare postings to a predominantly right-wing message board that I have an account at, I mentioned that I’d be watching the game, but it would be at a local casino, and I planned to use halftime to try a few slot machines, and see if I could win enough to pay for my bar tab.
The poll that was posted there, about what posters planned to watch during halftime, looked like this:
A) Watching Bad Bunny
B) Watching TPUSA
C) Not watching the Super Bowl
Note how there is no “watching the game but not halftime” choice.
Most posters on that board unsurprisingly voted for watching TPUSA. But a surprisingly large number—enough to win the poll—said they’d be watching the game, but had no interest in the halftime show. Rather like me, who plans to try a few slot machines, they are planning bathroom trips, hitting the kitchen for snacks, getting more drinks, going out for a smoke. All these were mentioned, though they were not a choice in the poll.
I’ll be watching the game, though I’m not as interested in football as I used to be. Odds are I’ll not watch the halftime show – I haven’t paid much attention to the halftime shows for years, unless it was an artist I knew and liked – but I have zero interest in watching whatever MAGA-worshipping glurge Turning Point puts on.
Puppy Bowl would be fun. Like I said, I’ll be at a local casino, whose demographic skews older, so Bad Bunny, rap music, hip-hop, and anything after 1990, would be ignored.
It’s actually kind of bizarre how bare the cupboard is for right wing celebrities that they desperately have to cling to 8th-rate celebrities like Kid Rock. I wonder if there are secretly conservative celebrities but are afraid to be open about it because of the culture of hollywood (or popular music), or because hollywood is made up of creatives there’s just not a lot of attraction to conservative types. Kid Rock is the best they’ve got and it’s pathetic.
The idea that he’s some sort of wholesome alternative to bad bunny is so fucking absurd too because he’s got songs about having sex with well underage girls and his cultivated (and fake) image is of trailer trash. I mean it’s not like they’re throwing someone wholesome and all-american out there in contrast to what they believe to be the … whatever the fuck they think about bad bunny. It’s not like Kid Rock is going to be some sort of milquetoast, safe for grandma pick either. It’s like they’re saying “we’re not gonna watch your woke ass brown people, we’re gonna strut our trash out there because it’s the best we can do”
Every single person that watches this is an asshole. There is no reason to watch this except for spite, to make a statement that you hate… Puerto Ricans? Brown Americans? I guess maybe there are some… kid rock superfans out there? But… I also can’t imagine kid rock superfans not being assholes.
I saw this video on another site. Apparently, Lee Brice was on American Idol. It seems he is more popular than Kid Rock so I wonder why he isn’t headlining? Maybe because he doesn’t hang out with Trump. Yet.
Anyway, this song is very Republican and not creepy at all.
