A peace sign? Or half of one?
Thanks. And good, that the little one won’t have to stay in grandma’s house. Maybe they’ll take Brooke with them.
I wish Trading Spouses would go back to some of last season’s families for an update. There was one woman, almost as weird as Margaret, who was very controlling. The other wife gave her husband money to start an orchard, and the woman was very upset about it.
Oh yes, crazy hypocritical vegan mom. (Not saying all vegans are crazy, but wow, she was!) Who ate alligator. So much for acting on your beliefs
.
This woman really, REALLY needs a psychiatric intervention. That being said, however, she made for a great hour of pure trainwreck television!
I was thinking the same thing. There was a family from last season that didn’t believe in furniture or shoes. The kids were very sheltered, and all of them (mom, dad, and two teenage boys) slept in the same room on mats on the floor. The new mom gave the 18 year old money for a car, and encouraged him to go out and start living his own life. I’d like to see how it went (his father was very resistant to it).
I agree that it was great TV… but I ended up feeling really sorry for Margaret. She was genuinely terrified and threatened by what she was seeing. It was terribly sad.
And that blonde bitch needs a good anal probing.
I wouldn’t think a Catholic would give anybody a King James bible.
That was sort of throwing me as well. Her behavior was very not Catholic, and much more evangelical (the proselytizing, talking about “her holy spirit” doing this or that, the hands up in the air and so on) and yet I also noticed that the little kid crossed herself after saying grace before the meal. Very odd.
I posted this in last week’s thread but no one seemed to notice or comment.
Last night **(well LAST week) ** on Access Hollywood or Extra… or …well one of those infotainment shows that are on back to back and repeat the same stories… They had crazy christian lady on… They flew her to LA and gave her a make over. It looks like part of it was hamming it up for the camera and her claim was that she “sufferered through Katrina” and just sort of lost it for awhile. The make up and hair people and the hosts all kept going on about how she is actually a really sweet person.
It was almost as if she was some weird cross-breed of Catholic, Southern Baptist, and Pentacostal, with a hint of Charles Manson thrown in for good measure.
Did anybody catch where the other family was from? I deduced it was somewhere in Eastern MA because of the cab company, but I didn’t catch what town.
I’m going with Catholic, as both NOLA and MA have very large Catholic populations. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
And just a wee tad of Margaret White and a touch of Regan MacNeil.
It could be that she’s some weird Catholic offshoot. South Louisiana has all kinds of wacko churches and offshoots of more normal churches.
I don’t think she’s Catholic. I think the church she went to was Catholic – maybe because it was the only one open when she needed it.
She made a comment when she got back home about going to a Catholic church. The way she said it sounded like she was looking for sympathy.
I’m glad to hear that maybe she’s not as crazy as she seemed. Part of it seemed like an act – Jesus (or somebody) was watching. She was auditioning for heaven, maybe.
tdn: And just a wee tad of Margaret White and a touch of Regan MacNeil.
Hee.
That’s so funny! I’m not usually one to talk back to the screen, but I swear I said “bitch, you ARE a tool” at that part.
Show of hands…how many of you Dopers did the same thing?
Not only that, but she didn’t do anything. I guess in a perfect (i.e. not on television) world, you’d have moms trying new things out and experiencing the day-to-day household life. But the religious lady didn’t do anything beyond lay around, complain, and prostelytize (sp?).
If she were very hardworking, then at least some viewiers could feel sympathy toward the possibility that her faith helps motivate her to be productive in life. But she’s not, which makes her that much easier to despise.
Did she even proselytize? I missed the first episode, but in the second one, nothing she said told me anything about her religion, just that she was full of it. (Her religion. Full of her religion.)
In the first ep, did anyone ask her what she believed, how she put her faith into practice, what rules she followed?
Here!
Although I believe I said something closer to “oh, you’re a tool, all right …”
I don’t recall anyone asking Margerite about her beliefs in the first episode. In the second, she had a sit-down with each of the kids about God.
That woman (I can’t being myself to say “lady” here) was crazy. I’m religious and all but, damn. I have never known anyone who acted like that. I felt sorry for the family. Both of them.
Except her husband. I didn’t feel sorry for him in the least bit. I wanted to kick him in the head while yelling, “Grow some balls you pansey.”
Margaret/Marguerite has been sampled.
My daughter sent me an mp3 file called “Slagkick”, which is someone’s interpretation of how M says “psychic”. It’s pretty good.
I’m not sure if it’s okay to post the link, cuz the originator says he doesn’t have much bandwidth, so I won’t. But it’s funny.
