Tragedy in Serbia: School shooting, by 13-year-old leaves at least 9 dead

The parents have been arrested, the boy is currently being remanded to a psychiatric facility (in part because children under 14 cannot be charged with crimes in Serbia), and a hit list was found at his house.

I’m also anticipating lots of people hollering “misogyny” because 7 of the 8 student fatalities (the first person who was a security guard) were girls. Regardless, this was something nobody certainly expected there, AFAIK.

Wow. Dad and tragic. It happened in Belgrade, the national capital of Serbia. And then the article quotes a (somewhat surprising) statistic that Serbia has the 5th highest gun ownership rate in the world, behind the US, then Falkland Islands, Yemen, and New Caledonia.

Falklands. A place still at risk of hostile invasion and 10,000 miles from the nearest other home-country territory.
Yemen. The libertarian paradise.

And the USA. We’re number one (!) in something at least.

Yeah, just great. We’re not #1 in education or healthcare but we’re #1 in that.

Serbia is trying hard to match the US:

But they will actually do something about it, we will never do anything about it.

Apparently they are rather quickly identifying what needs to be done.
