So I’ve decided at teh youthful age of 31 to go back and play baseball again. Here’s the thing. I haven’t played since I was 20, except for one dismal season of softball. I have until Feb for tryouts, but I need to do something to get my body, particularly my arm, back in shape. I’m not in awful shape, but I need to be better. Anyone have any ideas of what I need to/should do to get myself ready for a season? I have 2 months really to do it in. Help me out!!
My advice is not to try to become some kind of super hero. You ain’t got the time.
What you do have the time for is stretching exercises. They will help you do well and prevent injuries like hamstring pulls.
You ain’t playing pro sports, lso imber up, stay healthy and have FUN.
Your #1 priority is to avoid rotator cuff injuries. Stretching is half the battle, but strengthening them is equally important. Google is helpful here.
I’d probably hit calisthenics relatively hard, maybe do some cardio 3 times a week and follow ultrafilter’s advice. No point in getting really macho and obsessive about it. You’re not going to get a miracle with only 2 months to prepare.
