Is it possible to transfer my music from an old iPod to my current iPhone?
The music on the iPod is mine - I purchased it.

IF the music on the prior iPod was purchased through the Apple Store / iTunes, it should still be available for download, with some exceptions as some of my purchases were lost due to various Apple licensing snafus as an early adopter.
If you’re asking if you can Directly copy files from one to the other, my understanding is not, at least, not without a Mac or PC intermediary. You could put the older iPods into a “drive mode” where they were basically readable as an external harddrive, but I don’t think the iPhone could read it as such. And you’d have to find an adapter (here’s an option based on possible models of iPod and iPhone).
And of course, there’s the question that if they were purchased from Apple, if you used the same Apple ID for both the iPod and the iPhone. If not, it could get much more problematic to recover the prior account and merge it with your current one.

Ok, I’ll check that out. That’s a good point about the Apple ID. I doubt they were the same and the chance of me remembering the one for the iPod are basically zero.
I ran across that iPod the other day. It had been in a drawer for a long time.
The music was purchased through iTunes. I’ll let you know how it goes.
I’ve recommended this program to others who have been happy with the results, CopyTrans is a good way to move files from an iPod to a computer and then onto an iPhone. It’s $19.99 but does exactly what you want.
Good luck with it is all I’ll say. I mentioned the direct transfer as a possibility, but I think it’s an extreme long shot at best. And double check the cording on the models of your iPad and iPhone, I just made an educated guess.
Even best case though, I’d worry that the purchased songs on the prior account won’t be playable files without extra-legal hacks due to Apple DRM, so if you still have access to the likely email accounts from that era, it’s probably worth it to try to recover that account! Songs you ripped from owned material of course are another issue.
