Translation: This is a Chronos-failed-high-school-Spanish-based board. 
As I used to tell students whenever I happened to be subbing for a Spanish class, “Hablo Espanol del Camino Sesame”. I can fake it pretty well from my five years of Latin (which I didn’t flunk), and osmosis of a few words here and there, but I’ve never had any formal Spanish education at all.
Everyone on this board can read and write English. Some of us know other languages, and Spanish is probably pretty high up on the list of other languages Dopers know, but a lot of us can’t speak it, nor any other non-English language.
