There were a lot of storieshttp://www.mobile.commerce.net/print.php?story_id=676]**Like this one ** following the WTC disaster. I also heard reports that banging sounds (supposedly) coming from the initial trapped survivors of the collapse were heard for days following the ordeal. I never did however, hear any reports from the search crews that they had found people that apparently survived the collapse only to die later from their injuries or from starvation and/or dehydration. I know that the last thing family members wanted to hear was that their loved ones didn’t die a quick death and that this was probably the reason that such stories weren’t given to the press. I have always been curious if anyone had heard of any media leaks pertaining to this matter.
i dont think that this is true because werent mobile phone comunications in New York down for a few days after the attack because the main satelite link was on top of the trade center. i remember hearing that the phones were down before the collaps so I dont see how they could have called, i would say its some what like an urban legend, but i guess it may be possible for someone to survive the fall and survive under the rubble for a while.
For example, in australia we had a major landslide at a ski resort called threadbo where it destroyed a few lodges and people were trapped underneath. something like 2 days after the landslide stuart diver was rescued alive from the rubble
I heard secondhand, friend of a friend kind of thing, from a tech who worked for Verizon (?) and was dispatched to the site: within 24 hours or so they had set up temporary mobile phone antennae around the site specifically to “listen” for any calls that might come from the rubble. None did.
