I wanted to caution those of you who may be visiting Quebec this summer.
With the tourist season in full swing, Quebec language law officials seem to be showing less and less tolerance for those who insist on speaking English in public. As you may know, this is contrary to Bill 101 which places strict limits on where and how the English language may be used.
Usually, first-time offenders (especially visitors to La Belle Province) are let off with a warning. However, fines are not rare, and there have even been instances where short jail terms have been imposed. Still, that is the exception.
Have fun or should I say Bon Voyage
Ummm… you don’t actually expect anyone to believe a word of what you just said.
I think Troll! is the most appropriate response to this type of post.
Just a Canada joke. Sheesh.
Sorry, sometimes it’s hard to read intended sarcasm in between the lines. By the way, It’s Canada day not Quebec day - the rest of Canada is quite english I assure you. The Quebec national holiday, which is St. Jean Batist Day was last week. It might have worked as a Quebec joke about a week ago… but probably not.
This sort of racist bullshit is very difficult for me to see any humour in, speaking as an anglophone Montrealer. Quebecois already get pissed on enough from the rest of the country and anglophone population of Quebec and they don’t need your ass making it worse.

Racist? Give me a break. Just who has prohibited unfettered use of my language in my country?
Oh. Maybe you meant that the Quebec Government was responsible for the “racist bullshit”. My apologies.
And by the way. You say “racist”. Exactly what race do you believe I have offended?
