Travelling to Trump's America in August

Wyoming **is **the Trumpiest state as a percentage of the vote (he did lose one county but took all of WV and OK).

Failing NY Times reports there will be eclipse! Liberal plot! Make America sunny again!

DC. I want to visit the Smithsonian.

No, I’m not.

The Smithsonian is 20 venues including museums (in DC, Virginia and one in NYC), galleries and a zoo. I hope you have comfortable shoes and a few weeks set aside.

Your posting history indicates you’re a Trump fan; perhaps you’ve had a recent change of heart but I have only your past words to go by.

And I have people, the best people, and they’re telling me that we got visitors coming here to take advantage, to take actual advantage of America’s position on the planet. Well, we’re gonna have the biggest eclipse here and it’s gonna be the best eclipse and we’re gonna have the most people watching, and we’re gonna make Mars pay for it.

You’ve obviously missed a the relevant posts.

Between Bozeman and Riverton, I assume you’ll stop for a few hours to drink in the incredible Grand Teton Mountains. When my then-4-year-old son saw them, he said “Wow! Is that a hologram?” (He had just learned the word from Star Wars).

Riverton is real Indian country – excellent choice. (Pretty good chance of clear skies, too, which I’m sure was your main criterion).

I’m aware of that.

Check.

I’m planning on just a week; I know I won’t see everything.

As you have shown an interest in American politics, please plan on seeing Arlington National Cemetery.

You are a White, Scot. Why would you have any trouble?

Bozeman’s scarier than any customs/entry processing ever will be. (Kidding! Sort of! Got relatives there, come for the broken-bottle bar fights, stay for the Rocky Mountain Oysters).

To see what? I’ll be interested in your comparison to London after you’ve visited the Washington museums. To be fair, I was spoiled by the comparison to the Melbourne museum, which, at the time, was a truly great museum, but I wasn’t impressed by the Smithsonia when I visited. Fortunately there a lot of choice – orchids, air & space, memorials etc, but because of the way they handled the crowds and the exhibits, some of it was no better than seeing the same thing on TV.

I can’t say I would recomend Arlington unless you are American. I have an uncle there, and I visit, but… it’s a nice place to visit.

Ok, and travel seems to be a /lot/ less difficult than it was just after 9/11. I haven’t been back post-inaugeration, but I find it hard to believe any recent changes have made it that bad again.

I hope Quartz has confirmed hotel reservations already. Pretty much all hotels near the line of totality sold out for that date as soon as they went on sale.

Yes, I do. I’m going with a tour group.

That link says it’s an optional question and doesn’t even ask for a password, just a handle.

I know that there was talk about how there might be a future request for passwords, but I’m a little surprised that you said, “You WILL be expected to …” as opposed to indicating it’s some future possibility.

Why did you do that?

Well, enjoy your stay in the umm Colonies is it?
was not aware you still had any, where might they be located?

I’ts nice that they offer you a free Gastroenterology exam just for visiting, must be nice Colonies, sounds like an awesome healthcare system.
Sorry to hear you got violated visiting a muslim country, but cheer up, i am told the rectum is an extremely fast healing area of the body

Well when you are finished visiting them, perhaps you can visit the U.S.
Though, and perhaps it’s just a mistake, they do not belong to Mr Trump.
It is not an imperial monarchy here, Mr Trump just works for the people, the country belongs to the citizens collectively.
Hope that isnt disappointing, or spoils your visit at all

See post 16 and the link there, where a Canadian entering the US had to surrender her phone and password to open it.
