I’m visiting the Colonies in August to see the solar eclipse. Having been to not one but two Eevul Muslim countries - Brunei and Indonesia - I’m sure to get asked aside for an advanced proctological examination.
So it’s a good thing I’ve yet to buy my tickets. I’ll have to book them to arrive with plenty of time to make a transfer.
Ideally, do not bring your cell phone, tablet or laptop with you at all. Customs has the right to confiscate them at the border and perform a thorough inspection. If you want to take pictures, bring a real camera.
You should seriously consider travel insurance just in case you are denied entry.
As long as you’re not a foreigner, have never spoken to a foreigner, and never seen a Meryl Streep movie, I’m sure there’s nothing to be worried about.
Just be sure to tell the Customs folks that the Apprentice used to be much better. Ratings are way down. Sad!
I’ll be seeing the eclipse from near a place called Riverton, Wyoming. Here is my itinerary. I’m probably going to arrive in Bozeman a day or two early and leave Phoenix a day or two late. Afterwards I’m planning on a stay in Washington.
Ah, so it’s furriners like you who snatched up every hotel room in Wyoming that week! I hope you get to Yellowstone before Trump abolishes the National Park system.
Unless you’re a Muslim mother from Canada, born in Morocco ( which is not on The List), who’s lived in Canada for 20 years, and is travelling with a five year old who’s just finished chemo, trying to cross into Vermont to buy a toy as a post-chemo reward.
You’ll be fingerprinted.
You’ll be asked personal questions about your religion.
You’ll be asked what you think about Donald Trump.
You’ll be required to surrender your cell phone and password.
Then after four hours, you’ll be turned away because you have videos of Muslim prayers on your phone.
You are clearly a threat to the United States and must be denied entry.
That’s what travelling to Trump’s America is all about.

We’re not quite Sarajevo, but with this Whack-Job in charge, who knows?
I am advising friends and colleagues to avoid any travel to the United States if they can possibly avoid it. The situation at the moment is too uncertain. They may be free to enter now, but that could change in a moment with a stray tweet.
Most foreign nationals are safe in the US at the moment, but there is simply no confidence that this might not change overnight.
There are countries in the world that are just too volatile to travel to, if you can possibly avoid it; North Korea, Somalia, United States, Nigeria, etc.
You’ll be driving past me as you approach Salt Lake City (look for signs to Hill Air Force Base); it will likely be over 100F while you’re in our parks but it’s a dry heat. Mind the signs of dehydration, hospitals are expensive here and rescue efforts sometimes have to be reimbursed.
I suspect they won’t plan anything for your time in SLC proper, where the hotels are have too many homeless and not enough attraction to make it worthwhile for less then a day, certainly nothing within walking distance.
ETA: the OP’s a Trump fan so I doubt he minds any of the current POTUS’s steps so far and the ‘Eevil Muslim’ line may not be tongue-in-cheek.
