Treadmill recommendations

Who can recommend a good treadmill?

Over the last few years I have weighed between 225 and 250 lbs. I’m about 6’3". I have jogged / run regularly in the past, 3 to 7 miles, 3 to 5 times a week, generally at around a 9-minute-mile pace. I have maintained a running regimen for years at a time.

I want something sturdy, and I don’t need a lot of features. I almost never use incline or programs or whatever. But if someone has a particular feature to recommend, that would be great. I still expect I’ll run outside a good bit (probably most of the time), but I like treadmills for when it’s bad weather outside.

I’m thinking used is the way to go, since I don’t want to break the bank. That being said, I am not the type to buy equipment and abandon the program, so I am willing to pay extra for something worth it over the long haul. eBay? I dunno…any advice would be appreciated.

So, any advice is welcome:

They have a very comprehensive section on treadmill reviews, with prices, features, and recommendations. Whether you decide to buy new or used, this should help give you an idea of what to look for.

A really good treadmill is going to cost a few thousand dollars new.

You should look into getting a re-manufactured one. They pretty much strip them down to the metal and re-build them.

I bought a re-manufactured commercial Precor over ten years ago for about $1,000 and its only given me a few minor problems. They are several thousand dollars new.
