Treadmill: repair or replace?

I have an 8 years old treadmill (by York Fitness). Apparently, the deck broke, and replacing it (and the belt, that must be replaced too) comes to about one third of the price of a new machine.

I’m contemplating if it is worth it to spend the money to repair the machine, or if this breakdown means the treadmill has reached its end of life, and will continue to break down piece by piece.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

FWIW, Craigslist and Facebook have many treadmills for sale (some for free but be suspicious). Some invested time could find you an inexpensive one at what I would assume would be a lot less money than a new one or repairing your existing one. If the replacement lasts a couple years, lather, rinse, repeat.

Sidebar: it’s possible to find scrap-mongers to take your old one away for free. Been there, done that.
