My guess for the cryptex is ‘Betsy’ since it was she who designed the flag. That, and the fact that they zoomed in on a female portrait carved in the ‘stone’.
I’m guessing that the remaining artifact is some sort of compass that fits into the circles on the ground and decodes the final clue. This means that they have to figure out the cryptex and then figure out the last clue in the same room. This seems that it may open the possibility of teams looking over one anothers shoulder while trying to figure it out (a la Wyld Hanlyns). They probably could have had separate chambers to prevent this. Of course this is all speculation, so the above may be pointless anyway. Actually, come to think of it, it would be cool if the floor medalions were safes and the arrow was a pointer for a combination lock…
I do like the possibility of “Laird,” but my guesses are “Scott” (as in Francis Scott Key) and “Front” (In front of you.)
I’m really hoping the geniuses don’t win… just calling themselves that should disqualify them. Go Air Force!
I’m not sure they come up with their own names. But I don’t want the genuii to win either.
If they all end up in the same chamber trying to figure out this last clue, it certainly will qualify as the first non-artifact/elimination bunching. (unless they do eliminate one team…who knows) And it’ll put everyone on equal footing for the “final” leg.
I guess I’m looking forward to it. :o
During most of the show, I figured the “live finale” was going to be the finish line of the hunt, but now I’m not so sure. Logistically, I don’t know how they’d set up a puzzle and ensure that one of the teams finished it within the hour. And if you listen to the promos, they talk about how one of the home viewers who’s been playing the call-in contest will win a bundle.
Here’s what I think we’ll see this coming Monday. There’ll be some sort of contest among the call-in fans; maybe a quiz with the same sort of questions they’ve been doing all along. Then, we’ll pick up the hunt where we left off, some team will solve the final clue, and we’ll have all the teams on stage for the reunion, congratulations, and handing the winners a great big check.
