My caffeine-less brain made the title of the op read “Meat-eaters taste like smokers”
“Kissing a meat-eater is like licking a barbecue.”
It gives you a burnt tongue?
“Time to suck (the delicious juices and sauce from) a (pork) butt.”
(From the link) "In an interview with vegan magazine* Viva!life*, (Ms McCarthy) said: “I really believe that meat should be treated in exactly the same way as tobacco, with public campaigns to stop people eating it.”
I don’t remember the public campaign that got me to stop eating tobacco, but it must’ve been effective.
Heeland coos ;).
Gotta say if I could keep one as a pet, I would. There is something oddly hypnotic about a shaggy, orange cow.
I guess we could eat vegans instead. Would they taste any different than meat eaters?
Um… Are we going to witness again one of those “longest suicide note in history” things in the next elections? O.o
There’s loads in my neck of the woods. They are good-natured, friendly beasts.
No, but they’d be too weak to run away.
Is there something about the name *e**y McCarthy that turns a woman into a drooling imbecile? Will we one day see a Bessy McCarthy who thinks lead paint is a delicious treat?
Don’t eat the smokers, they taste like an ashtray.
Cows don’t eat meat. Perhaps they taste like beef.
Point!
From the vegans I’ve known, I think they’d be stringy and have that weird health-food-store smell when cooked.
I know this is MPSIMS and all, but is an anti-meat campaign really that bad an idea? She’s not proposing banning meat or anything, just a campaign to make people aware of the health and environment risks. The same sort of campaign has drastically reduced smoking over the years (admittedly in conjunction with punitive taxation schemes) without the nanny state concerns of an outright ban.
It’s not simply the fact she’s calling for a campaign that is the issue. She’s calling for a publicly funded campaign(or I assume she is) whilst holding the brief as Shadow Minister for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. It’s part of her brief to engage with farmers. This is not the way to engage with farmers(an already bolshie bunch), or indeed the taxpayer.
If anyone ought to be calling for such a campaign it is the [Shadow]Health Secretary.
Meat production is certainly an environmental issue as much as it is a health issue. Engaging with farmers doesn’t mean lobbying for them, surely.
ETA: I eat meat and I smoke, for the record.
Can’t we just meat the meat eaters and smoke the smokers? That sounds like a full day to me…
Do you believe that this politician taking a neutral stance on meat production is actively lobbying for farmers?
What we are talking about is a politician(one of her main jobs is to deal with the farming community) using public money to try to ruin a sector of the farming community. This lady happens to be a left wing vegan politician. She is allied to the Far left of her party. Even before she made these comments she would have been distrusted by farmers. Her comments will have went down like a bucket of cold sick with most farmers. Im calling it now; she will not be in her current job going into the next General Election.
You need to soak them in water overnight, then dump the water before you cook them.
