Trench Rot.....how easy to get?

With the recent snowfall and generally wetness around here, I’ve gotten my shoes soaked at least once in the last few days.

I understand that such conditions can eventually lead to trench rot, but I have to wonder, exactly how possible is that? How long would my feet have to remain cold and soaked to begin to develop it?

I’m not particulary worried(I get out of the wet shoes and socks when the first oppurtunity presents itself), but I am curious

IIRC, it can come to haunt you in a day or so. But that’s for continued exposure. Stepping in the snow and stepping out of it won’t produce trenchfoot like continually slogging around in mud will.

It all depends on exposure. A day or so may bring it on. But changing your socks and airing out your feet will prevent it.

I have “stigmata” on my feet. Totally different story.

Not sure how long it would take for trench rot but I assume its well past the point this guy went through just to infect himself with athletes foot. http://www.thespark.com/science/stinkyfeet/
Kinda weird but humorous in a sick kinda way…lol
