Trespasser! (cat video)

I was in the middle of reading and editing a post I made over in IMHO when a neighborhood cat came to visit at the sliding glass door. Our two cats, Inigo and Mija, were not pleased.

It’s not the most action-packed video clip, but pissed off cats are always amusing. And I know the Dopers like the kitties.

BTW, I’m wondering if the big orange fluffy kitty has a home, or if he may be lost. I’ve seen him a lot lately since the big storm over the weekend, and he just kind of wanders around. He’s quite friendly (as you can see).

I think your cats are racists.

Mija’s little wolf howl from about 40 to 50 seconds in is funny! Maybe you could ask around, and see if anyone’s pet has gotten loose from the house? He does sort of look lonely, like he wants company or pettins.

Cats are weird.

By the way, every post about cats can be concluded by saying, “Cats are weird.” It is never “wrong.”

I hope Mr. Orange has a home …

The outdoor kitteh looks like he may be a Maine Coon. I want him!

Cute cats, cuter kid. I liked the vid of your little one in the puddles.

That kitty is gorgeous and he does look like he thinks he should be let in. You might check to see if anyone is missing a big fluffball.

In my apartment building, a cat was waiting outside my door. Same apartment, but he was on the wrong floor. (It happens a lot, he’s always glad to see me because he knows I’ll get him home.)

Maybe the visiting cat is from a similar house a block over or something.

I wonder how much actual cat is under all that fur.

The cat is orange? It looks gray to me. :dubious: But beautiful either way.

HazelNutCoffee, he’s kind of pale orange-ish; cream, perhaps? He appears greyish in the video because he’s being seen through the window glass, and probably also because compressing the file size always changes the colors a touch (the video of RuffLlama in the puddles trips me out–all the colors look so washed out).

No sign of big fluffy kitty today, but both Inigo and Mija are in the office here with me, occasionally taking a good glance out the window and searching for Mr. Fluffball. DeathLlama told me the other day about seeing this kitty–the cat was in our back yard (as he has been at least once a day for about 4-5 days), and when DL went up to him, Fluffball crouched in the “Uh-oh, are you going to eat me?” pose. But when he realized DL was friendly, he stood up lifted his tail, and did the “Prrrrrrr-meow?” thing. He got some scritches.

If I see him again today, I’ll go out and investigate more…see if he’s a he, for one thing, and if he’s hungry. His coat looked kind of matted in back; that suggests he’s definitely not an indoor cat, and might have been loose a little longer than the weekend. But who knows.

Definitely NOT letting him in, though. One, I have no clue of his health, and two, Mija would go ballistic. Inigo would be thrilled–he loves other cats–but Mija would disown us.

I’m glad you guys weren’t too bored by the video. I watched it and thought, hmm…not the most entertaining thing out there. DL had a great suggestion–I should have come up behind Mija, with just a finger visible in the camera frame, and poked her on her butt. She would have promptly swung around, spat, and swatted–like she nearly did to Inigo at the end of the vid. A bit high-strung, Miss Mija?

And ooooohhh…definitely need to keep an eye out for him as we’re getting termite-tented on Monday-Wednesday of next week. Our house is on a raised foundation–want to make sure he isn’t living under the house, as well as any other critters.

Ruffian, that’s an amusing video.

And I’m glad that you and Death Llama are concerned enough to look into the cat’s welfare. My own reactions are informed by having lived at an intersection where jerks would abandon their animals, when they weren’t cute anymore, so, I tend to jump to conclusions about that, now. I hope it’s just a local kitty on the prowl with their owner’s knowledge, and that he simply went off for other kitties to annoy.

Mija’s the one with the threatening tail and the white feet? She really wanted a piece of the visitor, didn’t she?

Beautiful cats, all three.

Funny how the trespasser sat so calmly, just instigating. “Yeah, I’m out here, you’re in there, whaddya gonna do about it?”
