Triops and Tank Cleaning

Long story short, I got my son a Triops kit for Christmas and set it up a few days later. Now two weeks have gone by and while the Triops are flourishing the tank water is nasty. The directions that came with the kit says nothing about cleaning the tank. I would like to know if I can clean the tank without killing the Triops or should I just leave it alone? Thanks.

One important thing is to use either fresh spring water or distilled water for your triops. I think your water will remain fresh for a longer time. I do not know about cleaning your tank though.

I got a set for my niece and nephew for Christmas (brilliant present, I know they’ll love toys when I want them myself!).

They haven’t been in there long enough to clean the tank yet, but we thought the best idea was to get rid of as much water as you can without getting rid of the little critters, carefully pour the water that’s left with the Triops in it into something else (they’ll be a little cramped for a while, but they’re not paying rent so they can’t complain).

Clean your tank, and I should have mentioned to get some distilled water up to the same temp as the tank was before, rinse, fill and set them free!

Good luck!
