Khan Noonien Singh and his supporters were exiled from earth on the S. S. Botany Bay after the end of the Eugenics Wars of the 1990s.
A large contingent of Saskatchewan Roughriders supporters has travelled to Winnipeg today for the annual Banjo Bowl between the Riders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The score for most of the first quarter was 1-0 in favour of the Riders.
Don’t worry, it’s 27-8 at halftime, in favor of the Riders. I’ve got Sask picked, with over 50.5 on the total.
If there is such a thing as reverse momentum in a football game, the Bombers established it in three plays in the second quarter of the 11th Banjo Bowl:
-
A pass by the Bombers’ quarterback aimed for a receiver in the end zone instead hit the upright;
-
A punt attempt by the Bombers was knocked down, recovered by the Riders, and run in for a Riders touchdown;
-
A long snap by the Bombers for another punt went way over the kicker’s head into the end zone for a 2 point safety for the Riders.
The momentum of an object is the product of its mass and its velocity.
The Bombers had neither sufficient mass nor velocity.
Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle states that either the position or the momentum (mass times velocity) of a particle may be known exactly, but not both simultaneously.
They escaped; they weren’t exiled (except by their own choice).
In play:
Star Trek: The Next Generation production staff, when asked how the Heisenberg compensators of the USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-D, worked, would invariably reply, “Very well, thank you.”
Divorce was greatly frowned on in Britain during the inter-war years. In one case, a recently divorced dignitary was excluded from the guest list to a garden party at Holyrood House, the royal residence in Scotland. He protested to Sir John Reith, the Lord High Commissioner of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, and who had influence over the guest list, that he had been the innocent party in the divorce, not the adulterous one.
The reply from Lord Reith was : “That may get you into the Kingdom of Heaven, but it will no get you into the Palace of Holyrood House.”

The feast of the Holy Rood (Roodmass, or the Exaltation of the Holy Cross) is celebrated on 14 September i.e. this coming Sunday.
Lutherans call this day Holy Cross Day.
Martin Luther King Jr. was not named after Martin Luther. He was named after his father, Martin Luther King Sr., both of whom were named Michael King at birth.
Martin Luther lived from 1483 - 1546. His Ninety-Five Theses on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences were written in 1517. These are widely regarded as the initial catalyst for the Protestant Reformation.
An indulgence is the remission of temporal punishment due to sin, the guilt of which has already been forgiven.
Indulgences can be either partial or plenary.
The last execution in Mexico took place in 1937, although capital **punishment **was not officially abolished by law until 2005,
Mexico has 31 states and one fedeal district for its capital, Mexico City. The northernmost state is Baja California, and the southernmost is Chiapas.
Federal districts, as quasi-states containing the national capital, are also found in Australia, the US, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Nigeria, and Malaysia.
The city government of Washington, D.C., the Federal district of the United States of America, in recent years has issued license plates emblazoned with the phrase TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION. This is in protest of the fact that - as provided by the U.S. Constitution - members of the District of Columbia do not have representation by fully-empowered legislators in Congress.
Residents of the District of Columbia may vote for Mayor, District Council members, State [sic] Board of Education members, Advisory Neighborhood Commission members, and a non-voting US Representative. Its Cabinet officials are appointed by Congress.
The use of the parenthetic [sic]. by definition, renders a statement technically false.
