There are 31 counties in the USA named Washington and six named Delaware. Twelve more counties bear the names of various other states.

Five states have smaller populations than Delaware. From most to least they are South Dakota, North Dakota, Alaska, Vermont, and Wyoming.

People in the State of Delaware barely outnumber people in the six counties of Delaware, 935,000 to 883,000.

Delaware is the only state without any National Park System units such as national parks, seashores, historic sites, battlefields, memorials, and monuments.
I guess there’s just nothing to see in Delaware?

More than 3% of Delaware is protected within the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge.

The Lady Bug is Delaware’s official state bug.

Bugs Bunny is an American cartoon character who first appeared in A Wild Hare (the first official Bugs Bunny short) on July 27, 1940. He was created by Tex Avery who was the director of A Wild Hare and Robert McKimson who created the Bugs Bunny character design. In 1997, Bugs Bunny appeared on an American postage stamp, the first cartoon ever to be put on a stamp. That stamp is number seven on the list of the ten most popular U.S. collectable stamps.

The musical CATS was honored with a commemorative postage stamp on January 12, 2000 as part of the U.S. postal service’s Celebrate the Century stamp and education program.

The distinction of Honorary United States Marine is currently bestowed solely by the Commandant of the Marine Corps to “individuals in the civilian community who have made extraordinary contributions to the Marine Corps.” It “carries no entitlement to pay or benefits.”

Among the recipients of the title are actors Chuck Norris and Gary Sinise, and also Jim Nabors of Gomer Pyle.

Bugs Bunny is an Honorary Marine. He was given the rank of honorary Marine Master Sergeant for his performance in Super-Rabbit.

Journalist John Reed is one of few Americans to be honored by commemoration in a postage stamp of the Soviet Un9ion. Reed died in Moscow, after publishing a book about the Soviet revolution. The only other Americans to be commemorated on Soviet stamps are Mark Twain, Benjamin Franklin, Henry Lobgfellow and O. Henry.

O. Henry’s classic Christmas tale “The Gift of the Magi” was allegedly written at Pete’s Tavern on Irving Place in New York City.

Pete’s Tavern at Irving Place, the oldest continuously operating bar and restaurant in New York City, is located near Irving Plaza and Grammercy Park at 129 E. 18th Street. Irving Place is named after Washington Irving, and it was given that name while he was still living.

The three US Presidents with the first name of “George” held the office in different centuries–Washington in the 18th, Bush in the 20th, and W. Bush in the 21st.

I love Lobgfellow! Especially his The Sobg of Hiawatha and Evabgelibe.

The voluminous papers of George Washington - diaries, letters, military orders, plantation documents, presidential materials etc. - have, since 1968, been complied by a special research and archival project at the University of Virginia. If all goes well, the project should be completed in 2023.
