The Maryland Toleration Act, also known as the Act Concerning Religion, was a law mandating religious** tolerance** for Trinitarian Christians. It was passed on April 21, 1649, by the assembly of the Maryland colony, in St. Mary’s City.
The English legal term “Act” and the French legal term “Acte” are false friends. “Act” in English means a law, while “Acte” in French is a term for something that is done formally with the intent to create or record a legal relationship. It is more similar to the English legal term “Deed”.
The difference between them apparently escaped Canadian lawyers working for the nascent Dominion of Canada, who translated “British North America Act” as “Acte de l’Amérique du Nord Britannique.”

Steve Martin did not attend the recent Kennedy Center ceremony in which fellow comedian Bill Murray (with whom he appeared in Little Shop of Horrors) was awarded the Mark Twain Prize, but did appear in a short mock-sarcastic video shown beforehand.
Groundhog Day, London’s hot ticket musical based on the movie starring Bill Murray, is coming to Broadway in spring of 2017 and is staring Andy Karl, who originated the lead in London (and I am doing my Steve Martin Happy Dance over that one!)
Bill Murray’s Nick ther lounge singer character on SNL used a different last name depending on where he was. For example he was Nick Winters at a ski lodge when he sang “Star Wars”.

On the evening of 29 September 1913, Rudolf Diesel, the inventor of the Diesel engine. boarded the post office steamer Dresden in Antwerp on his way to a meeting of the Consolidated Diesel Manufacturing company in London. He ate dinner on board the ship and then retired to his cabin at about 10 p.m., leaving word to be called the next morning at 6:15 a.m.; but he was never seen alive again. Shortly after Diesel’s disappearance, his wife Martha opened a bag that her husband had given to her just before his ill-fated voyage, with directions that it should not be opened until the following week. She discovered 200,000 German marks in cash ($1.2 million USD today) and a number of financial statements indicating that their bank accounts were virtually empty.
Items belonging to singer Eddie Cochran from his ill-fated 1960 car crash were impounded at the British police station until a coroner’s inquest could be held. David Harman, a police cadet at the station who would later become known as Dave Dee of the band Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich, taught himself to play guitar on Cochran’s impounded Gretsch. Earlier in the tour, the same guitar had been carried to the car for Cochran by the 12-year-old Mark Feld, later known as Marc Bolan of T. Rex, who would himself die in a car crash in 1977.
Since it was first described in 1905, Tyrannosaurus rex has become the most widely recognized dinosaur species in popular culture. It is the only dinosaur that is commonly known to the general public by its full scientific name (binomial name) (Tyrannosaurus rex), and the scientific abbreviation T. rex has also come into wide usage. Robert T. Bakker notes this in The Dinosaur Heresies and explains that a name like “Tyrannosaurus rex is just irresistible to the tongue.”
