The real name of blues legend Muddy Waters was McKinley Morganfield. He was one of the astounding number of famous bluesmen to come from Clarksdale, Mississippi, along with Eddie Boyd, Jackie Brenston, Eddie “Bongo” Brown, Willie Brown, Eddie Calhoun, Sam Cooke, Nate Dogg, Marshall Drew, Blac Elvis, Earl Hooker, John Lee Hooker, Son House, Johnny B. Moore, Junior Parker, Mack Rice, Rick Ross, Brother John Sellers, Ike Turner, and Robert “Bilbo” Walker Jr… Tennessee Williams was from there, too.
Bongo drums produce relatively high-pitched sounds compared to conga drums, and should be held behind the knees with the larger drum on the right when right-handed. It is most often played by hand and is especially associated in Cuban music with a steady pattern or ostinato of eighth-notes known as the martillo or “hammer”. They are traditionally played by striking the edge of the drumheads with the fingers and palms. The glissando used with bongó de monte is done by rubbing the third finger, supported by the thumb, across the head of the drum. The finger is sometimes moistened with saliva, or sweat before rubbing it across the head. When used in art music compositions they are usually struck with drum sticks. These drums can also be played on a stand, as is the case with concert orchestras and bands.
The bongo is among the largest of the African forest antelope species. Bongos are characterised by a striking reddish-brown coat, black and white markings, white-yellow stripes and long slightly spiralled horns. Adult height is about 4 feet at the shoulder and length is 7 to 10 feet, including a 18–26 inch tail. Females weigh around 331–518 lbs., while males weigh in at 485–893 lbs.

As a member of the superfamily Giraffoidea, the pronghorn’s closest living relatives are the giraffes and okapi.
