Canadian, Texas is a city in the NE part of the state, in the Texas panhandle. Canadian TX is named for the Canadian River, a tributary (and the longest tributary) of the nearby Arkansas River. The Canadian River is 900 miles long, from its start in Colorado and running through New Mexico, the TX panhandle, and Oklahoma. The Canadian River is sometimes referred to as the South Canadian River to differentiate it from the North Canadian River that flows into it.
It is apparently unclear why the river is called the Canadian. On John C. Fremont’s route map of 1845, the river’s name is listed as “Goo-al-pah or Canadian River” from the Comanche and Kiowa name for the river (Kiowa gúlvàu, or ‘red river’).

Pecan trees are the official state trees of the state of Texas. Native pecan trees have shown to be an estimated 150 years old and can grow an average of 70-100 feet tall.
Pronunciations of the word *pecan *in the US have been mapped by a number of linguists, including Joshua Katz at NC State and by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
The University of Wisconsin System is a university system of public universities in the state of Wisconsin. It enrolls more than 182,000 students each year and employs more than 32,000 faculty and staff statewide. The System is comprised of two doctoral research universities, eleven comprehensive universities, and thirteen junior colleges. The original campus was established in Madison and held its first classes in 1849.

In the entire USA, for that matter. Door County has five state parks and 250 miles of shoreline along Lake Michigan.
Lake Michigan is the only Great Lake that isn’t at all in Canada. In fact, it is the largest (by surface area) lake on Earth that lies entirely within one country.
Some hydrographers define Lakes Huron and Michigan as hydrologically a single lake because the flow of water through the 5 mile-wide open water straits between them keeps their water levels in near-equilibrium. Combined, Lake Michigan–Huron is the largest fresh water lake by area in the world. If Lake Huron and Lake Michigan are considered two separate lakes, Lake Superior is larger than either.
On the other hand, Georgian Bay, the north-eastern portion of Lake Huron, is sometimes called the “sixth Great Lake” (on a map, it looks a bit like a backpack on the main “body” of the lake). The strait separating it from the main portion of Lake Huron is not much larger than the strait separating Lakes Michigan and Huron. if Georgian Bay were considered a lake, it would be the only great lake entirely within Canada.
The Georgian period was named after the first four Hanoverian monarchs, viciously satirised by Walter Savage Landor:

Of course, Landor didn’t anticipate that a century later, there would be two stolid, capable, and generally well-regarded Georges.
George II was the last British monarch born outside Great Britain: he was born and brought up in northern Germany. During the War of the Austrian Succession, George participated at the Battle of Dettingen in 1743, and thus became the last British monarch to lead an army in battle.
The Northern Pike is a game fish of the family Esox, intermediate in size between the larger Muskellunge and the smaller Pickerel. Of the three, the Northern Pike is the only one that occurs in Eurasia as well as the colder fresh waters of North America.
The Canadian Northern was a trans-continental railway built in Canada with extensive government funding. Said governments were bamboozled by the principals of the Canadian Northern, Mackenzie and Mann, who were a fast-talking pair of scallywags, sniffily described by one of their many detractors as “not out of the top drawer.”
During the Great War, the federal government bit the bullet and nationalised the bankrupt Canadian Northern, figuring that given the amount of taxpayer money that had gone into it, it was essentially a government corporation anyway.
Re-named the Canadian National, CN was a federal Crown corporation until it was privatised at the end of the 20th century.
Another Canadian railway, the Grand Trunk, failed in 1920 and was also nationalised by the federal government and rolled into the CNR. The Earl of Grantham lost a substantial amount of Countess Cora’s money in the Grand Trunk collapse.
The Grand Trunk Road is one of Asia’s oldest and longest major roads. It runs from Chittagong, Bangladesh across Northern India through Delhi, and continues towards Lahore, Pakistan, finally terminating in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Originally a trio, the band Grand Funk Railroad was formed in 1969 by Mark Farner (guitar, vocals) and Don Brewer (drums, vocals) from Terry Knight and the Pack, and Mel Schacher (bass) from Question Mark & the Mysterians; Knight soon became the band’s manager, as well as naming the band as a play on words for the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, a well-known rail line in Michigan.

There are over sixty different species of eagles. However, only two are native to North America: the bald eagle and the golden eagle.
The bald eagle was adopted as the national bird symbol of the United States in 1782. Ben Franklin was among those opposed to this action; in a letter to his daughter, he wrote this of the bald eagle: ‘He is a Bird of bad moral Character. He does not get his Living honestly.’
In the musical “1776”, Thomas Jefferson suggests the dove as the new nation’s national bird, John Adams is for the eagle, while Benjamin Franklin denounces the eagle and promotes the turkey, in these lines:
“The eagle’s a scavenger, a thief, and a coward!
A symbol of over ten centuries of European mischief!
The turkey is the truly noble bird. Native American. Source of sustenance of our original settlers. An incredibly brave fellow who will not flinch at attacking a regiment of Englishmen! Singlehandedly!”
Doves and Pigeons are not scientifically distinct, but the choice of names is largely based on common and traditional nomenclature. Very roughly, larger ones are more typically called pigeons. Dove is a more endearing name, with pigeons thought to be more of a nuisance. There are over 300 species in the family of Columbidae, including the two most well-known and documented extinctions of birds, the Dodo and the Passenger Pigeon.
Mount Dodo, also known as Mount Dodogamine, is located in the northern part of the city of Gifu, Japan. It is only 1,371 ft in height, but is the tallest mountain in the city of over 400,000 people.
