He’s stretching, but I see some of them. 4060-Denver, 4062-Brest/breasts(?), 4065-Chief, 4078 (foul, can’t go back, sorry, Hal)-Beef, 4081-sign, 4088-Pride, 4090-religion, 4094-General. I don’t see the others, though.
Next play: Jet Li’s breakout role in the US film industry was in 2000’s Romeo Must Die, a remake of the Shakespeare play “Romeo and Juliet” set in the Oakland gang world.
Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet was based on the story Romeus & Iulietta by the Italian priest and writer Matteo Bandello, whose story Apollonius and Silla was the basis for part of Twelfth Night, which is used as evidence by some Oxfordians for Edward De Vere authority of Shakespeare as De Vere had spent much time in Italy.
Hollywood sign -> Ace of Base’s song, The Sign

Yeah it looked like that particular thread was moving off into a dead end, so I tried to redirect it into a more fun direction.
Also, I think mine are more fun when you have to search for the link.
Blue Oyster Cult’s one mega-hit “Don’t Fear the Reaper” refers to Romeo and Juliet, together for eternity. It was first released in 1976 on the album “Agents of Fortune”, and the lead was sung by “Buck Dharma” Doeser.
“Don’t Fear the Reaper” was famously parodied on Saturday Night Live with Christopher Walken as the song’s producer continually ordering Will Ferrell to give him “more cowbell.”
Merle Oberon was born Estelle Merle O’Brien Thompson in Bombay/Mumbai but many of the details of her early life are missing; it is believed that she intentionally obscured some records to hide the fact she was of Anglo-Indian ancestry at a time when that would have been little better than being mulatto in the racially segregated film industry. Her nephew by marriage, Michael Korda, wrote a novel, Queenie, that is clearly a roman à clef about his famous aunt, even using her childhood nickname as the title.
Michael Korda was Oberon’s nephew via her marriage to Michael’s better known uncle Alexander Korda, a prominent film producer and director born in Hungary, who eventually took British citizenship, and ultimately was awarded a knighthood for his efforts during World War II. He was the first film director to be so honored.
Hey, I played Oberon in a high school production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”!
The leading Federal case for the intentional surrender of U.S. citizenship is Afroyim v. Rusk. Dean Rusk of Georgia was U.S. Secretary of State at the time, serving from 1961-69 under Presidents Kennedy and Johnson.
The recently deceased Jimmy Dean is better-known today for the sausage that bears his name. But he did have a career in country music, both as a hitmaker and also the host of an influential radio program on Washington, D.C.'s WARL in the early 1950s.
Dean was instrumental in giving both Patsy Cline and Roy Clark their first exposure to country music fans of the day.
Though he was never a professional singer Eugene Levy of SCTV and American Pie fame performed the song A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow with his co-star Catherine O’Hara as their characters from the movie A Mighty Wind at the 2003 Academy Awards.
Each of the groups in A Mighty Wind was a spoof of a real group from the era (“I was part of the Great Folk Music Scare of the 60’s, when it almost caught on.” - Martin Mull).
The Folksmen (who still sometimes perform today as a warm-up for Spinal Tap, with whom they are close personal friends ) represented the Chad Mitchell Trio, the New Main Street Singers were the bizarro New Christy Minstrels, and Mitch and Mickey were more entertaining than the real Ian and Sylvia.
The original Christy Minstrels performed in blackface (usually applied with burnt cork) as did Al Jolson, Sophie Tucker, and Bing Crosby early in their careers.
Bing Crosby was an early investor in the Ampex company, maker of the first commercial North American tape recorder. Crosby not only used the new invention to record his popular radio show, but gave one to his friend Les Paul, who used it to develop multi-track recording.
Frank Sinatra, a Democrat, built a helicopter pad at his Palm Springs estate just for JFK’s use. Sinatra was in something of a bad odor by the time the President was due to visit, however, so JFK stayed with notorious Republican Bing Crosby instead. Sinatra was, by all accounts, very, very angry with the President.
