Trivia Dominoes: Play Off the Last Bit of Trivia

The famous C-47 Skytrain transport was designated the Dakota in RAF service.

The civilian equivalent of the C-47 was the DC-3 and was used as an early passenger airliner.

(Personal note: my mom was a stewardess with Philippine Airlines on them; she was PAL’s “Miss Aviation” in 1959!)

The DC-3 continues in service in many countries around the world today.

(Personal note: I flew in an Allegheny Airlines DC-3 in the spring of 1966. It was, and still is, a beautiful, wonderful airplane!)

In 1966 and 1967, the American League had two different Triple Crown winners: Frank Robinson and Carl Yastrzemski. It wasn’t until 45 years later that another player, Miguel Cabrera, accomplished the same feat.

The band Little Feat supposedly got its name when Frank Zappa’s drummer Jimmy Carl Black remarked about the size of guitarist Lowell George’s feet, then the second “e” was changed to an “a” in possible reference to The Beatles.

The Land Before Time was an animated movie in 1988. The main chracter, Littlefoot, was a baby apatosaurus.

Apatosauruses are more commonly known as brontosauruses, a name I personally vastly prefer.

Off-game: okay, agree. That’s what Wikipedia had, though.

On-game: A favored burger of Fred Flintstone was the brontosaurus burger.

Fred’s brontoburgers were usually washed down with bottles of Rocky Cola. Yum!

Betty Rubble - babe!

Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge, blonde and brunette, have vied for the affection of Archie Andrews for a looooong time in the comics.

Velma in Scooby-Doo is a turn-on thanks to her bob hairdo, knee socks, sweater and pleated skirt, and Coke-bottle eyeglasses.

Sorry, bud, but Daphne Blake is hotter.

A popular phrase used to express friendly disagreement is “Different strokes for different folks.”

BC Bud is a colloquial name for marijuana grown in British Columbia and exported south.

The only thing that would make Velma hotter would be saddle shoes south of those knee socks.

Saddle shoes were a popular fashion in the 1950s along with bullet bras.

Currently, the world’s most powerful production revolver fires a .500 Smith & Wesson Magnum bullet. It is capable of producing over twice the energy of Dirty Harry’s 44 Magnum.

Detective Thomas Magnum always wore a Detroit Tigers cap, in honor of Michigander Tom Selleck’s favorite team.

A magnum is the term for the most common size bottle of champagne. There are larger bottles, named after biblical figures, such as the balthazar, the salmanazar, the methuselah and the jeroboam.
