Groucho Marx died three days after Elvis Presley, and with the furor over The King’s death, the media paid little attention to Groucho’s. But shortly after Groucho’s death, his children found a letter written by him that stated he wanted to be buried on top of Marilyn Monroe.
St. Edmund is indeed buried in the English town of Bury St. Edmunds, but the first word of the town name is just the same as the common suffix “-bury,” which is merely the same word, essentially, as “borough” or “burg,” which just meant “fortress” in Proto-Germanic. Nothing to do with interring a corpse.
Wah Chang, the artist who designed and built several props in the 1960’s for Star Trek, used moiré patterns found in the Edmund Scientific Educator’s and Designer’s Moiré Kit for the texture used in the Starfleet communicator props.
Riverside, Iowa has an interesting Star Trek-related sign that says:

Personal note: my 25-yr old daughter left San Francisco last May on a 7-month cross-country solo road trip across these United States. She’s hitting all 49 land-connected states (Alaska was state#3 after OR & WA).
Just yesterday she Instagrammed a picture of herself at that sign!
10 USC 2228 institutes an Office of Corrosion Policy and Oversight within the Department of Defense.
The Spirit of Troy, the USC Trojan Marching Band, self-described as “The Greatest Marching Band in the History of the Universe (EVER)”, derives some of its funding from royalties for its performance backing up Fleetwood Mac on “Tusk”. The video was actually shot at Dodger Stadium, not the Coliseum, though.
From 1962-64, the Los Angles Angels played their home games in Dodger Stadium. Not wanting to mention the name of the other team, they called the stadium “Chavez Ravine” after the neighborhood it was built.
Cesar Chavez was only the second Mexican American in history to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, awarded posthumously.
John I of France was born posthumously 5 months after his father Louis X died. He reigned for 5 days and holds the French record for youngest king (from birth) and shortest undisputed reign.

Warren Beatty and Clint Eastwood are the only actor-directors to earn Best Actor and Best Director Oscar nominations for the same film two separate times.
In spite of the many pro-Life and “Traditional Family Values” proponents in the Republican party, Clint Eastwood received a huge ovation when he appeared at the 2008 GOP Convention, an irony considering he has 7 children by 5 women (only two of whom he married) as well as causing multiple pregnancies terminated in abortion by other women.
The name, Clint Eastwood, is an anagram for ‘old west action.’
The name Alec Guinness is an anagram of Genuine Class.
As part of his preparation for The Hunt for Red October (1990), Alec Baldwin was trained to drive a Los Angeles-class attack submarine at the New London Submarine Base in Connecticut.
Author Tom Clancy passed away recently, last month, on 01 October 2013.
On September 11, 2001, Clancy was interviewed by several media members because his 1994 book Debt of Honor included a scenario where a disgruntled Japanese airline pilot crashes a fueled Boeing 747 into the U.S. Capitol dome during an address by the President to a joint session of Congress, killing the President and most of Congress.
Japanese singer Kyu Sakamoto, best known for his song “Ue o Muite Arukō” (I Shall Look Up as I Walk [So That My Tears Won’t Fall]), released in the US as “Sukiyaki”, died in the 1985 crash into Mount Takamagahara of Japan Airlines Flight 123, a 747 that was rendered uncontrollable by the rupture of the aft pressure bulkhead. It was the deadliest single-aircraft accident in history, and the second-deadliest accidental plane crash in history behind the Tenerife airport disaster involving the ground collision of two 747’s.

Gayla Peevey was only 10 when she recorded the Dr. Demento classic song “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”. It was later covered by Captain Kangaroo and by the Three Stooges.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard’s Starfleet commands included the USS Stargazer, the USS Enterprise-D and the USS Enterprise-E.
