Petula Clark came to early fame as a child star in movies and early TV in the UK at the age of 11, while also having hit songs in the 1950s and breaking through in the US in the 1960s. She returned to the stage as she got older, and spent five years touring as Norma Desmond in the musical Sunset Boulevard, playing the role more times than any other actress.

Sunset Boulevard is a 22-mile road in Los Angeles County connecting downtown LA to the Pacific Coast in the city of Pacific Palisades. In 1994 the portion of Sunset Boulevard east of Figueroa Street was renamed Cesar Chavez Avenue along with Macy Street and Brooklyn Avenue in honor of the late Mexican-American union leader and civil rights activist.
