Trivia event last night - how would you answer this final question? PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS FIRST

Knew it was Minnesota because of the whole Lake of the Woods thing.

I thought Maine is the answer to the “US state closest to Africa” trivia question.

I guess I overestimated how far north Lake Superior goes (not to mention how much of it belongs to Michigan). :frowning:

This would explain why International Falls is the coldest city in the USA.

Ironically, I remembered the Lake of the Woods and the Northwest Angle were the northern most points, but couldn’t remember which “M” state they belonged to.

That one makes it look like it’s Washington. I can definitely understanding why people are confused. (I am too, but I’m English).

Thankfully I got it right. I live here.

I answered Minnesota, was I right?

I went with Maine, though I wasn’t 100% sure. Checking a map afterwards, I still couldn’t tell! (Though I was glad to see Maine was at least one of the top 3.) Eh, geography isn’t really my strong suit.

I didn’t take the poll, but I instantly knew the correct answer. Good thing, too, since I live here. I’ll have to see if they have the little pokey up bit showing on my license plate.

Juh?

I could have sworn it was Michigan. Something about it being north of Canadia or something.

MOL, you’re thinking about:

a small portion of Ontario that falls south of the easternmost-part of Michigan, in the Port Huron/Detroit area - Windsor is one of the cities south of (most of) Michigan.

Looks like it. All right then. Good to know.

Well, I didn’t even look at the multiple choice answers without guessing…

… Maine.
Ah well. At least here in the East my answer is right.

Some day, when I’m retired, I’m going to visit the Northwest Angle, just because it’s there and it looks cool on a map. I don’t know what I’ll do there, since I don’t fish.

If the Angle didn’t exist, it would have to be invented. It wouldn’t do to have a 5-way tie for northernmost (of the 48) state.

I got it right, but considering where I live…

Regards,
Shodan

I got it right but I have no idea why I knew this.

Minnesotan here. You’re all Southeners to us.

Standard trivia question, no problem with the answer.

I had a brief pen pal exchange with the teacher of the only school there. I got the impression from her that most of the people who actually have residences there are motivated by fishing and water sports, especially in the summer. You keep a boat in Young’s Bay and go all around Lake o’ th’ Woods in a fisherman’s paradise. I think most of the place is an Indian reservation.
