Trivia Help — Band Names

I can’t recall seeing a post like this here before, but I thought I’d give it a shot because you guys are the smartest people I ever come in contact with.*

I post a biweekly trivia question on my company’s Facebook page. Yesterday I was going to go with:

What do these groups have in common?
The Black Eyed Peas
The Eurythmics
The Dixie Chicks

The actual band names do not include “the.”

But I did some quick research before posting (important step), and found that the Black Eyed Peas only fit some of the time, depending on which album you’re talking about or which part of their website you’re looking at.

So, can anyone suggest another band that fits in this group?

I could always stick in Smashing Pumpkins (which is the inverse, of course), but I’d like to have one more.

Thank you for the help.
*Suck up? Me?

Talking Heads comes immediately to mind.

One that definitely does NOT fit: Matt Johnson’s “band”

The Talking Heads is another one.

They may be the definitive example of this phenomenon, even going so far as to release this album as a teaching exercise

Pink Floyd, though I have seen them billed as “The Pink Floyd.” It may have been a one-shot.

System of a Down
Spirit
Smith
Spanky and Our Gang
Blue Oyster Cult
Mountain
Led Zeppelin
Traffic
Jethro Tull
Nirvana

Buzzcocks

Talking Heads could work.

Chuck (may I call you “Chuck”?) - I’m looking, not just for bands that don’t have “the” in their names, but bands that don’t have “the” in their names and most people think they do. Everyone says “The Dixie Chicks,” and lots of people say “The Eurythmics.”

Thank you for the help, folks. I’m still listening.

Err … reading.

Grateful Dead
Buffalo Springfield
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Or keep The Black Eyes Peas and add others that use “The” some of the time on album covers but not all of the time, like The Eagles and The Kinks.

Squirrel Nut Zippers

I like Exapno’s too…except Buffalo Springfield I guess. Never heard them with “The”.

Melvins

Happens a lot.

The Buffalo Springfield on “Mannix”!!!

Live versions of “Bluebird” and “For What It’s Worth”! I didn’t know that existed.

Edie Brickell & New Bohemians are often referred to as Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians.

Well, that is, when they’re referred to at all…

And I have heard/seen that album referred to as The Name of This Band Is the Talking Heads.

Jefferson Airplane is an ensemble that frequently has the definite article erroneously appended to its name.

Foo Fighters

Electric Light Orchestra (though their first album was entitled “The Electric Light Orchestra” for its UK release).

Ah. I shoulda added to my post “but I didn’t grow up in the time of The Buffalo Springfield, so really I’m lucky to have heard their name at all”

Usually when someone is saying something like, “Hey, did you know that that girl from that band in the 80’s married Paul Simon?”

To finally list a good band, Backstreet Boys officially have no “the” in their title either.

Holy Toledo! I had no idea there were so many.

Thank you, everyone.

Although I enjoy Letterman, he’s got it wrong when he says:

Oh, Dave…
