I am imploring every last person out there in this wonderful thing we call cyber land to lend me your “cerebral hands” I am trying to identify these images for a free trivia contest this weekend, and I find myself and my team coming up short.
So if you are able please anything can help - even just a glimmer of recognition.
Ok, you’re gonna have to tell me what this contest is and why I should help you and what happened to the previous post before I even THINK about answering this one again.
This is a yearly contest put on every year by the good people at the college radio station at St. Cloud State in Minnesota. It’s 50 hours of trivia straight through the weekend and is a purely for bragging rights contest. The previous post was pulled out because my brother is an idiot and got revoked.
Thank you very much for all your input everyone - I hope to hear some more great ideas!
#10 looks kinda of like some emergency ladders i have seen firemen use. Its like a plastic or some such material with holes in it used kind of like a rope ladder. It appears that it is a brick wall behind it, so that is my guess.
#7 is, I think, an old McDonald’s ad in which the characters (Grimace, Mayor McCheese, etc.) are being held up by Hamburglar, though I’m not sure why the characters themselves are removed.
OK, I assume your brother was dltrooper? The problem was that posted the same post (esssentially) and the same link in about four different forums. We intepreted that as “spamming”, so we removed them and banned his username.
If he’s a legitimate poster, who just made a bone-head mistake in over-posting, then have him email an Administrator and we can restore his privileges, if he’d like to stay with us.
I’ll leave this thread in place – one thread on the topic is plenty. OK? And welcome to the Straight Dope Message Boards, Allison
I posted a bunch of clues in the other thread. He’s a well-known musician, record producer, and actor (well, not so much as an actor). He was the white male half of the first male-female racially integrated pop duo. He’s produced over 200 blues reissues. He used to be the band leader on a short-lived late-night talk show. He played Pinky Carruthers in “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai”. He sings the theme song from “King of Queens”. He’s very, very good.
He also appeared last Saturday on Santa Monica Pier at Rusty’s Surf Ranch
Probably because this image is an answer key. There was likely a puzzle asking you to identify each character in a group drawing. The trivia image has each character outlined and numbered, and presumably there was a list identifying each one.
#4 looks like Gordon Jackson, most famous for his role as Bartlett’s right-hand man in The Great Escape.
#14 is definitely artwork from the Hardy Boys books. I distinctly recognize the one of them in the boat (the one at 4 o’clock) from The House On The Cliff.
These are all great answers guys!! But I’ve still got a few left - still completely perplexed about Exhibit 5 and 7. 11, 12, 13 will also be haunting my nightmares for a while.
Many of us are from Minnesota and have boneheaded brothers. As for fighting tooth and claw for bragging rights in a trivia contest, I think everybody on this board can relate to that or else we’d be doing something else.
