Visual Trivia Quandry - STILL the hardest Scavenger Hunt

Hello fellow Straight Dope Readers,

I’m trying to identify the pictures on my teams trivia website linked below for annual trivia contest at my college. There aren’t any prizes other than bragging rights but it’s a lot of fun. Resources are unlimited so it’s okay to get outside help (like yourselves). I’m stumped and could really use some help. Any ideas would be VERY appreciated.

Thanks,

Spyware Doctor prevented this link from opening for me.

I’m not sure why that would be. It’s my team’s site. I’m on it right now.

Good luck, I’m not going to override my security to go there.

Didn’t recognize any and tineye was no help.

It looks okay to me, so I’m leaving open – but people should be aware that the site may have malware on it.

I’m also going to move the thread over to the Game Room.

#44 looks like Zod to me.

#5 is an ornate spur, very similar to this: Pair of Rowel Spurs | The Art Institute of Chicago

Hope that helps.

43 looks like Harry Blackstone
15 appears to be Martin Short, but I don’t know what it’s from. IMDB may turn something up.

#8 is hobo writing, GIS turns up a bunch.

Could you give a few examples of the solved ones? Are we just looking for the names of people, or a general theme?

The first one reminded me of a sea horse, turn the picture 90’s to see it.

We don’t know what questions will be asked about the images during the trivia contest. So, we just try to be the most prepared that we can be. Sometimes we can find the exact picture on the net and thus we know the origin, people in the picture, what it was used for, etc. Unfortunately, sometimes we can’t find the image on the net. When I mark the picture as solved it’s because I feel comfortable that we have gathered enough info on the image so that we can answer whatever they ask about it.

That guy with the beard kind of looks like Mitch Miller. #42 looks a bit like Gorbachev, without the birthmark.

When is the contest?

#1 is vaguely similar to a map of Cape Cod.

ETA: I didn’t notice that this thread had been started more than a month ago. I do hope the OP will come back with answers.
