Trivia Question I Flubbed

I thought of Prizzi’s Honor (wasn’t certain of the director) and Godfather III without looking.

Similarly, Stanley Kubrick’s daughter plays the daughter of Heywood Floyd in 2001: A Space Odyssey (the video phone call from the space station).

John Boorman directed his daughter Katrine Boorman in Excalibur and Hope and Glory.

Dario Argento directed his daughter Asia Argento in two films I know of and possibly more.

If that counts, then there’s also George Lucas’s daughter (and son) in Star Wars II and III.

Crap, just realized the OP specified father-daughter. In that case, I have no idea.

Not only that, but in Excalibur he directed her in a nude sex-scene with Gabriel Byrne (who was in full armor.) That had to be a weird moment.

Without peeking, Francis Ford Coppola directed Sofia Coppola in The Godfather Part Three??

John Huston directed Angelica Huston in Prizzi’s Honor?

:: peeks

woot!

The first one that came to my mind was:

Duets

directed by Bruce Paltrow
starring Gwyneth Paltrow

The Dead was John Huston’s last film and it starred daughter Angelica. Prizzi’s Honor is a little more interesting since Angelica won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar. Back in 1948, John directed The Treasure of Sierra Madre, featuring his father, Walter Huston, who won a Best Actor Oscar, with John taking Best Director and Screenplay. I’m not sure how many three-generation Oscar families there are (Barrymores? Zimbalists? Coppolas?).

Anyway, given the somewhat insular nature of Hollywood, I’d be surprised if there weren’t dozens of movies in which someone directed their children.

looking at nothing, my guess is the Godfather II, where Sofia Copolla plays Michael’s daughter

Both of which include nude scenes and one vicious rape scene.

“Like this, daddy?”
Yes, pumpkin. That’s much better."

What a charming family.

Kevin Smith directed his daughter in Jersey Girl.

I suspect the question gets more interesting if you specify that the daughter must have previously appeared in a non-Daddy film.

She was also in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

At least he didn’t give her a semi-lead role like he’s done with his wife

Robert Zemeckis’s daughter was in Forrest Gump, as one of the children on the bus when Forrest was about to start grade school.

Not a major role, and she’s not an actor now (that I know of), but I think it still applies…

That’s okay, Ken Russell directed his daughter who had the lead in Whore. You tryin’ to tell us something about your daughter there, Ken?

Speaking of trivia questions…

Apologies if this has been asked and answered, but have the Bricker challenges gone the way of the dodo? I did used to enjoy those when I caught them…

Can anyone think of a woman director directing her daughter? I got one: The Allnighter (1987), directed by Tamar Simon Hoffs, starring her daughter Susanna Hoffs (also of The Bangles)

Writer’s block.

I started one a month or so ago, got about 25 questions done, and then… stalled.

They’re not dead. Just resting.

Resting? It’s run down the curtain and joined the Choir Invisible!

Are you sure? They have the same last name, but neither IMDB nor Wikipedia says they’re related. In fact, both sites give Theresa Russell’s birth name as Theresa Paup.

However, Ken Russell’s daughter Victoria played Sally Simpson in Tommy.
