OK, I wrote a Python program to calculate the scores, and I did a hell of a lot of debugging, but it just spat out the list of responses, calculated my score so far, and died. Hopefully I’ll get it working by the time the game ends.

  • “Pikey” is an ethnic slur. You meant “cant” or “gamin”, which is a language, not a dialect.

I’m having trouble with this one. Someone said “Brixton, 1950s” but the only info on a Brixton riot I could find was about one that happened in 1981. Someone else just said “Brixton”, so I don’t know whether to combine those scores or not. Can any of the Queen’s people help me out here?

In a similar vein, the Onion’s “atlas” Our Dumb World has a spot in Australia marked as the “Paul Hogan Institute for Knife Identification.” Brilliant stuff in there (though they were so thorough in other parts of the world, it was a little disappointing that they omitted a few Pacific Island nations entirely. Burnout, I guess).
