Trivial Feud Part II

Um…bump…we only have 40 responses. WTF.

Problem is two-fold:

  1. People aren’t supposed to read this far in the thread without answering first, so they don’t see your note about more responses

AND

  1. After this many responses, those of us who know about this “game” think the game is closed. So they either skip by it or read through, only to find that they’ve ruined it by reading the thread.

OR

  1. Neither of the above.

If you don’t get more responses you might want to just close it out at 40.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Hopefully, over the next few TF threads, people will figure out what the deal is. I tried to say in the OP not to assume that the game’s over if there have been more than 50 responses, since people tend to chatter a lot in the thread, but I guess a lot of people are just skipping the thread entirely. We may end up having to cut it off at 40, as you say.

There’s also no particular reason why things need to add to 100. You could just say “all entires in the next 48/72 hours will be accepted”, and just use however many there are as the total. (And there’s also really no need to have it be 2 points per, instead of 1 point per… keep the scoring as simple as possible.)

Also, it is the holiday season, and there are those who aren’t around right now who might otherwise contribute to the game. I’d just be patient with this one until the holidays (and the hangovers) are done with, or we reach 50 responses, whichever comes first.

I’ve mostly been having 2 points per, out of 1000 points, because it keeps scores relatively consistent across games. I’m starting to get the idea that it’s time to cut this one loose, though, so I’m going to start calculating scores after dinner tonight. Any entries that slip in before I post the final scores will be counted.

Tough to see if the game is still on if you can’t read the thread…

Well, at least I’m in the top half.

Wait, is “pass” worth points?

Yep.

ETA: It blew all the other answers out of the water on the 70s song question.

Damn! I thought passing was just a non-answer. I had no idea what to put there. Shoulda passed.

I don’t think “pass” should be worth points, myself.

w00t! 3rd. Best I’ve placed in anything since the local competition with showtunes lyrics.

Hey! 36th. Last time I was 49th I think. With this kind of progress I’ll be stealing the show in a few more rounds.

Bah. I knew Liverpudlian was going to screw me, but I couldn’t help myself. I’ll know enough next time to ‘pass’ on the hard answers–unless we agree that it’s not point-worthy, of course.

Hooray! I’ve played in three of these, and come in first, second and first. Truly, I know the simplistic and most obvious answers to everything!
As far as passing goes, I think it’s valid for the trivia version of this game: it’s a guess that the question is esoteric enough that people jsut won’t know what to put. If a player ‘passed’ on most of these questions, they’d get no points at all.

Mind if I start up one of these next, Hostile?
