Trivial football question for Dutch Dopers

Quick question, which I doubt I’ll get an answer for (but I live in hope). I’m trying to track down a Dutch footballer by the unlikely name of Orpheo Keizerweerd. He’s probably about 32 or 33, and played one match for Oldham Athletic in the Premier League in the early 1990s. The last clubs I’ve seen him associated with were DWS and Huizen, but that was a few years ago. Anyone know of him?

I’m Dutch, but also (fortunately) blissfully unaware of anything relating to football, so I can’t help you.

A Google search turned up that he indeed played for Huizen but left to D.W.S. (Door Wilskracht Sterk - Strong through Willpower, a club in Amsterdam). There is no mention if he still plays for the team, but I haven’t searched very long. If you need any help in translating any of the Dutch pages, give me a shout.

Good Luck in finding him.

Thanks, Aghris. Is there any indication of how recently he left DWS, and how good they/Huizen are (i.e. what division they’re in)?

Well, even though I don’t know anything about footbaal, I at least have heard of all premier and first league teams, but I had never heard from DWS before, so that must make it at least second division I guess, but more likely it is a regional team of no importance.

There is no team listing on the web for that club so I can’t tell if he still plays there or has left. I just tried to phone the club, but the phone number listed connects to a different club. Since I’m at work now I don’t really have time to chase it more.

The webpage I saw of s.v. Huizen has slightly more information, but it’s also an amateur club.

It looks like this Keizerweerd had his 15 minutes of fame and then disappeared in a blaze of obscurity.

Thanks for the effort, Aghris - I suspected that this guy wasn’t a world-class superstar!

A bit more info that you can’t do anything with:

O. Keizerweerd scored one goal for FC Den Bosch in season 1994/1995 with shirt number 48.

He played for Huizen in 1999/2000 without goals, after which he left for DWS.

Seems logical that season 2000/2001 would be with DWS, meaning that he still plays there, or has just left after the end of the season.

No sweat, I love doing this: researching obscure information. I just hope you can do something with it. Why are you so interested in this guy by the way? It’s not like he has made it big or so.

Oh, I’m an Oldham Athletic fan. He’s one of those bizarre players that turned up with (to a British ear) a fascinating name and unknown history, did nothing and disappeared again. Kind of an obscure ‘where-are-they-now?’ character. I was just curious to see if he’d every gone on to bigger and better things elsewhere.
