Trivial Pursuits in Kansas City, or why do my friends question their intellect?

Why is it that all my friends and I do at night is sit around at the bar and impress each other with our trivial knowledge, yet when It comes to a game of Trivia being held at the bar can I not get a team together.

Anyone in Kansas City, want to form a trivia team and win everyweek at The Record Bar ?

Maybe their knowledge is too specialized? I am great at geography, science and history, but my knowledge of the entertainment questions sucks big time.
