Why have the last twenty or thirty posts been about a now-cornfielded post by a troll? Isn’t the whole point of cornfielding the posts that we don’t want to offer them the attention they want? So why are you feeding them?
Speaking only for myself: if they were sincere, then someone who cares a lot about someone not caring a lot strikes me as an interesting story; and, if they weren’t sincere, then it — still strikes me as an interesting story.
I wouldn’t mind dropping the subject, but I remain a fan of a good story, is all.
They weren’t. You’ve been bamboozled.
That’s kind of sad.
I take my treasures where I can find ‘em, and I find that I live a pretty happy life as a result.
::shrug::
Seriously, you do you. We have different opinions but that’s all it is. ![]()
Wow, a trock and trock’s posts have just been removed from the P&E thread asking about a legal remedy for Trump’s $1.8 billion scheme.
The trock had the most insightful answer to the question that I’ve read yet.
I vote we keep the trock. Bring back the trock!
Well, now I really want to know what the trock said, which seems to defeat the purpose of cornfielding them. Maybe don’t post things like that in this thread?
It was one of our frequent flyers and while one of his replies might have been good the last one was an analysis of what Trump’s asshole tastes like. So no, just no.
Many of his other posts in other threads were also borderline. This is part of their MO.
It was on that great series on PBS – American Playhouse. I loved that one. It was especially funny because the play they were doing was Streetcar Named Desire.
I’d forgotten all about that series. I’ll have to see if it’s available somewhere.
ETA: I see that Who Am I This Time was directed by Jonathan Demme.
My other fav from that series was Bernice Bobs Her Hair. An F. Scott Fitzgerald story starring Shelly Duvall.
I remember reading (and watching) that in high school. Did not have two fucks to give for it.
O.k. then.
This is the first time I’ve suggested that a poster may be a troll / trock in this thread, but a new post is really pinging my troll-dar.
In MPSIMS, a poster is claiming he’s been homeless in Manhattan for the last two years. He was in a ‘safe haven’ shelter for awhile, but was kicked out because one of the people running the place was ‘racist against white people’.
He is asking for advice on how to go about finding someone who will put him up as a rent-free roomie so he can focus on going on an extreme diet and lose up to 70 lbs. in a month. Why does he want to do this? So he can become more attractive to women, and, along with his ‘superpower’ which is being great at ‘girl talk’, he can get himself a ‘top-shelf girl / woman’, presumably so he can become a kept man and be taken care of, though he doesn’t specify that.
This poster joined 3 weeks ago, and since then, quickly made a series of non-controversial posts that seemed designed to invite responses, to get himself established, before he dropped the ‘homeless in Manhattan’ post, which just seems designed to push buttons and cause controversy while not being too obvious of a troll.
I apologize to him if he is a genuine homeless man just looking for advice while having wildly unrealistic life goals, but he really seems like a troll or trock who knows this board well, and is just trying to stir things up and have a laugh on us.
That poster is Past_Paper, and they have created several other rambling threads in which they ask multiple questions. I flagged one in Cafe Society this morning, which seems to maybe be better for Thread Games (though it’s hard to tell), and What_Exit’s reply to my flag seems to indicate that the mods already have some questions about that poster.
Their “omnibus discussion thread” in MPSIMS is a series of random-ass questions posed; they do not reply to or acknowledge responses which sufficiently answer their questions, but instead poke and poke at responses which seem “incomplete” to them.
I can’t yet decide if they are (a) a trock who’s having a blast getting attention, (b) someone on the spectrum or with some other issue who just really doesn’t know how to interact politely, or (c) a bot.
Agree w weird & getting weirder.
Agree. He/She/It referred to the LA River as a ‘culvert’. No big deal of itself, but weird.
All New Yorkers have weird ideas about Los Angeles.
Well, you have to admit, LA is pretty weird.
