Yeah, that guy’s got more issues than a magazine hoarder’s attic.
Considering they only post / read the one thread, it puzzles me. Most trolls go for a bigger splash and wreck multiple threads. Of course, most of our recent trolls are Trocks, so I’m probably biased.
Bu the whole ‘my opinions are facts and require no support, yours are valueless misinformation and cannot be taken seriously by true scholars’ is trollspeak beyond a doubt.
It did have a certain vintage flavour to it, like that pyramid fountains guy or the other one that was banging on about … rectangular fields or some such thing.
I just read through the thread, and yeah, that reads more “crackbrain True Believer” than “troll”, to me.
I love when guys like that show up on the Dope, because I usually learn something interesting from the Dopers who shoot him down. I learned a lot about Egyptology in that cladking (the “ramps are debunked” guy) thread. I will give ol’ claddy credit: he was never rude to anyone who disagreed with him.
Well, yes, not rude. If one ignores how insulting he was by pushing ideas proposed first by ancient alien proponents (That his ideas were just a bit more original does not change that the few times he finally posted links to “his best evidence” those links were usually links to ancient alien crank believers).
After a lifetime of seeing their efforts, I have to agree with other skeptics that there is a lot of implied racism in that kind of effort.
Oh, yeah, there’s definitely not-so-subtle racism in “ancient aliens” conspiracy theories. Not unlike the 19th c. Europeans who found Great Zimbabwe and promptly made up a lost white civilization to account for it; surely nothing so impressive could have been built by black Africans, what what?
It’s official now, he is banned for trolling or something effectively equal to trolling.
I also closed the thread as it was from 2005 and a complete mess at this point.
