I can’t decide if Labra the Media Mail Fraudster is a troll or just unbelievably stupid.
It was a disaster, but a notably skilled disaster. Other than constantly de-railing it an effort to dodge a request for anything other than unhinged opinion, they didn’t step on any of the lines that would normally get them warned. Which is why I (and others) figure it’s gotta be a trock.
So I come over here and I see that everyone has already made the obvious joke about our troll friend obviously being Mike Piazza.
So I’ll just say after having read most of that thread that I am thoroughly convinced that Piazza is the Lord and savior of the universe and single-handedly saved New York after 9/11. Because he hit a baseball with a stick. And something vague and unsupported about race I guess.
Jesus fuck, I like baseball. I do not like Mike piazza. Assholes like that give sports fans a bad name.
And yeah I got serious trock vibes from him. He absolutely knows what he’s doing.
Alternate theory: Maybe he’s really Rudy Giulani!
Rudy, at least when he was sane; (Lets say pre-2016 for these purposes) was a die-hard life long Yankees fan. He would have waxed poetic about Yogi Berra, not Mike Piazza.
D_Anconia is such an obvious, disingenuous troll that I cannot believe he still has posting privileges. That is all.
Has that thread been cornfielded? I headed over to the Game Room to enjoy the trainwreck, and the only thread I saw from the poster was one about whether or not the Mets might have made a playoff run in 2001. Only 15 posts, and not especially trollish. Guessing the thread under discussion has already been consigned to the memory hole?
Where? Other than everywhere…
He started talking Piazza in his other thread. The “Should Democrats stop talking about social and racial issues?” thread in P&E. Post 91.
Major reason I closed it. But not the only one. There is a modloop conversation on this poster started.
Oh, most recently in the Biden classified docs thread in P&E. But, basically, every time I interact with that disingenuous troll.
I think so.
It shouldn’t be. The points raised are common on the Right, and our counterarguments were valid. For non-Dopers who might think the same, it’s a worthwhile discussion to come across while Googling.
That only means that a non-troll should start a thread on the subject, in my opinion.
OK, this isn’t really appropriate, because although tofer’s arguments in his Fair Tax thread aren’t convincing to me, I don’t think he’s trolling. But I just have to share this gem, which I don’t think he meant as a joke:
No, I’m sorry, this is abuse. The fare tax debate is down the hall.
The spelling error is one thing but the argument it was intended to refute wasn’t even close to an ad hominem.
I agree he’s not trolling, though.
I heartily agree. He just returned from a 7 day suspension a few days ago. I expect he will cross the line again soon enough. Hopefully that will be enough for the PTB to finally cut him loose.
And poor Charlie is still on the MTA.
As others have said the thread is in P&E not The Game Room.
It was ostensibly supposed to be about how Democrats needed to stop talking about race and social issues because it’s dividing the country.
As a non participant the gist seemed to be…
Troll OP: Democrats are dividing the country by discussing race and social issues too much. No one wants to hear that.
Every other poster: Actually those issues are part of the reason why we have these divisions to begin with. They’re part of the problem. We should be talking about them more, not less.
Troll OP: Well Mike Piazza hit a home run in a game soon after 9/11 and united New York single handedly.
Every other poster: WTF does that have to do with anything!?!
Now imagine that playing out over almost 200 posts.
Now to be fair there were a few posters trying to have a serious discussion about the OP’s topic, but the troll kept insistently derailing his own thread with an unhealthy obsession with Piazza.
