Trolls R Us Resurrections

From what news sources are you getting your supposedly more accurate information?

Total bullshit. The equipment they’re pulling out of mothballs are museum pieces. The new draftees are quivering, untrained boys and old men with no desire at all to fight. Armies without the desire to fight can’t win, full stop. War is logistics and morale, and Ukraine has big advantages in both.

If you really believe that Russia still has a powerful and effective military, much less logistics that can come close to matching NATO (and Ukraine’s logistics are NATO logistics at this point), then you’re so delusional that there’s no point to discussing anything with you.

Morale is not about smiles, it’s about a willingness to fight. Ukrainians have as much willingness to fight as anyone can, because they know the alternative is annihilation of their country and their culture. Broadly speaking, Russians have no willingness to fight, because they’re fighting for nothing but Putin’s delusions.

It’s a classic lumper vs splitter division. Personally, I don’t find it useful to dissect the psychology behind some jerk’s posts. A Russian troll is someone whose posts promote Russian propaganda, whatever their reasoning for doing so. Or someone whose posts aggravate others, whatever value they may claim to provide. Life is too short to read jerkish posts.

Everybody can be a jerk from time to time.

But I do agree there’s no effective difference for anybody who makes that their primary trait, regardless of true motivation

Michael_Varn managed to get his own thread shut down in Politics & Elections by ceasing to even pretend that he’s engaged in good faith posting.

Please don’t invite the possible bad faith posters here. That never ends well.

My bad, force of habit.

“Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlej-”

“Shut the fuck up!!!”

At least he didn’t “@” them

Actual trolls seem to enjoy doing searches on their user names to see if they’re getting a rise. So the @ is usually bad for a troll as opposed to just a poster people are complaining about.

I can’t find in chappachula’s post an implication that they purport to be getting any accurate information, from any source. Just a declaration of their predilection to treat “information” from ALL sources as proof of nothing.

There’s implicitly trustworthy news sources in those posts, though.

How else would one trust the reported figures on how much personnel and equipment Ukraine has lost or to know that Russia can continue sustaining losses for “another year or two”? There’s no way to confidently make such declarations unless accurate, trustworthy information is truly available.

You can’t trust anything ever, so just assume the worst and we’re all doomed.

So, we were always at war with Eastasia?

That doesn’t work, either. If so, Ukraine hasn’t really lost 15 APCs or whatever. There is no war to begin with, and it’s all a fiction manufactured by untrustworthy news sources.

You can’t fool me! It’s distrust all the way down!

Actually, flurb did @ them, which is why I asked them not to do so. But, flurb being an amazing poster, edited it out - thus their follow up comment where they indicated they did so out of habit, not intent.

Is that true, discobot? Is it really possible to use ninja editing skills to remove an @, and possibly other things, from a post without being noticed?

:crystal_ball: Signs point to yes

Well, if discobot says it, it must be a lie.

I ate some chili that dicobot made one time and got discobotulism.

I see Dodgy_Dude floated back to the surface like an unflushable turd, after nearly a month and immediately started a new “troll the libs” thread about how BOTH Trump and Biden are radioactive and blindly assured us that it would be Newsome and DeSantis.

Only two months after we ripped him for his “I don’t understand the intensity of the hatred for Trump”.

Any bets if he does anything other than watch people circle the poised bait? To the credit of those who have responded, it’s been largely calm “No, because you’re wrong.” Which IMHO means they may come back with a yet more crazed statement to stir the pot again. Or if we’re lucky, they’ll disappear again for a while.
