Using the power of decision gives you the capacity to get past any excuse to change any and every part of your life in an instant. — Tony Robbins
Shut up!
Looks like poster Michael_Varn may have overplayed their hand finally. First hijacking the “What if Trump dops out” thread, and pulling a warning, and then starting a charged “A question about the Special Master in the Trump document case” OP that was so factually bereft, lacking in understanding of the circumstances and law that it hurt my brain - which was thankfully stomped by W_E immediately.
The note indicates that the poster (as well as the post) is being reviewed. One may hope!
Hey, he’s Just Asking (Stupid) Questions!
In the “what psychiatric condition explains this” thread, MV says:
But there are two kinds of paranoia:
Paranoia that originates in someones mind for reasons ranging from an overactive imagination to mental illness.
The second form of paranoia does not originate in someones mind, but is placed there by an external human source. This is commonly refered to as gaslighting.
I wonder how a mental health professional can distinguish between the two.
Further, these two variants are virtually identical to a lay person.
Only a mental health professional can identify the just barely noticeable differences between the two variants based on their expertise when applying the diagnostic criteria before they make a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia, or any variant thereof.
I’m guessing he counts himself in the “I’m not paranoid if they’re really out to get me” group.
Aww, I don’t think a person should be suspended, or their threads closed, just because they are a twit who needs educating. I’d have been happy to reply to that thread if it hadn’t been closed.
As I stated upthread, I agree that they sure seem clinically clueless, and in words of another poster here, “nuttier than a fruitcake”. But they keep failing to follow basic board norms and mod instructions, so I suspect they’re falling afoul of the “more trouble than they’re worth” proviso.
If they showed the slightest sign of learning from all the crazed threads they’ve created and posted in, I would not be rejoicing. But I see no evidence of it.
Is there an antonym to paranoia in which you are convinced that people are conspiring to do you good? I find myself just muddling through life and things mostly work out just fine. Is there a group out there making sure that my toast lands butter side up?
That would be the basis of the sf story Narapoia. It’s a good read
That’s the foundation of most major religions, I’d expect.
Just replace “people” with “deity” or “angels” or “Earth spirit” or what have you.
Oh, come on! Nobody thinks some magical sky father is looking down from the clouds, visiting misfortunes upon them now only so that he can secretly reward them for their faith later, in some hidden land of sunshine and winged pixie-like servants.
Also “One Ordinary Day, With Peanuts” by Shirley Jackson. Sort of.
New one in the Hunter Biden thread.
Glurge of unsupported and uncited accusations.
How come that poster’s name isn’t grayed out, like for other new posters? Only joined a few hours ago, but the font is the same as everyone else.
I’ve never noticed that before.
Looks like soon it will be “blacked out” though.
Not sure, I didn’t notice that.
It was indeed a Sock that was trolling. Into the cornfield it went.
To reach Trust Level 1 (not grayed out), you must
- Click on at least 5 topics
- Read at least 30 posts
- Spend at least 10 minutes reading posts
Pretty easy to do quickly if you troll hard.
Trock knew those rules, I guess.
Aw, man, you guys are too quick. Could a new category, The Cornfield be established where these posts can be seen in all their glory for those of us whose presence on the boards is more intermittent?
It would, of course, be a read-only category and might serve as a warning to others, kind of like heads on a pike at the gates of a city.
You mean give trolls a special section where everyone can see their shit?
Perhaps you would like them tossed into the briar patch too?
