Trolls R Us Resurrections

To me this is the important part.

You’re not positing that they created one sock all the way back in 2003 and didn’t use a sock until now, are you? You’re positing that they’ve created multiple socks starting in 2003 or earlier, and for whatever reason hadn’t used this one until now, but have over the past 20 years used some of the others?

Yeah. If there’s other clear evidence, then there’s other clear evidence. All I’m saying is that the one old post followed by recent activity isn’t evidence in itself.

I see chela has expanded from transphobic trolling to race baiting (in the MPSIMS Karen thread)

Oh, yeah. Big time.

Wow they are digging themselves a lovely pit aren’t they.

They’re playing the “I demand the right to use a horrible word the way I want, and it’s still a technically correct definition!”

And everyone else is saying “Sure, we avoid bright lines here, (but we’re all thinking you’re a jerk, an idiot, and a troll - but we can’t say that in MPSIMS).”

Someone wants to win on the interwebs in the worst way, and they’re living the meme that is the subject matter of the thread.

I’ve always pictured chela as female, but I have no idea why (maybe names ending in “a” are typically female in the US?). It was discordant to see someone describe them as a white male, and a good reminder that I have preconceived and unexamined assumptions like everyone else.

Oh well, doesn’t really matter. They’re still as asshole.

A “chela” is the claw of a crustacean (like a crab or lobster), or an organ that resembles one. It comes from the Greek word chēlē which means “claw”. The term “chelation” comes from the same source.

It’s also Mexican slang for beer.

Huh. Is that where Michelada comes from?

Indeed so (at least according to Texas Monthly but apparently subject to debate) but kind of abbreviated

Mi + chela + helada

It’s about time again

Meantime enjoy some Blues

Also chela:

Sure, buddy, sure.

Today I was looking at Saint_Cad’s SoCal “Progressive Failures” thread and had to stop myself from responding three times, and even flirted with giving them their own Pit thread. I didn’t, because it isn’t worth it, and do not think they are an overall Troll - but they are either mind-shatteringly blind or willfully trolling in that particular thread so I’m mentioning it here.

The behavior of making a blind, unsupported assumption of facts and then demanding other people refute their assertation, after (at a casual count) 4+ requests that they support their own assertation is so very similar to troublesome posters listed here and in dedicated Pit threads leads me to the conclusion.

Here’s hoping that they can be bothered to actually come up with some facts, because it could also be the sign of a poster who’s jumped down a rabbit hole of radicalization and is heading towards self-destruction.

I’m pretty sure chela is a woman.

When I clicked on the link, YouTube came with an ad for Hillsdale College, marginally better than PragerU in my opinion.

In December 2021, Hillsdale launched the Academy for Science and Freedom in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The academy’s stated goal is to “educate the American people about the free exchange of scientific ideas and the proper relationship between freedom and science in the pursuit of truth.” The academy called the United States’ response to the COVID-19 pandemic “the worst public health fiasco in history” that “has unveiled serious issues with how science is administered”. Scott Atlas, Jay Bhattacharya, and Martin Kulldorff, who helped found the academy, have ties to the Great Barrington Declaration.[71]

The irony, it burns.

I’m pretty sure chela is a man.

The name also threw me at first, but he’s made comments that implied he’s a man.

Not necessarily trollish, but damn unusual - over in the Miscellaneous forum, a thread about Irish spelling has been revived by a first time poster who claims to be 14 years old (post #21).

Hmm.

chela has often referred to a husband. While it’s surely possible it’s a marriage of 2 men, I’m not getting that impression based on posting history.

I thought I remembered mentions of a wife? I guess I could be getting two posters confused.

I also sometimes confuse chela with another poster whose username begins with a “c”. Until I read the post. :grinning:
