On the subject of trolls (this is a thread about trolls, remember?), if there is anyone who still doubts slicedalone is a troll, I would encourage you to review his “contributions” to: The case against Lee H. Oswald in Great Debates.
Just because somebody is an annoying nitwit conspiracy theorist doesn’t make them a troll. There’s nothing in those posts that twinges my troll detector at all.
My idiot detector? Absolutely (and not just for that thread). But having idiotic views or posts on a topic (or several topics, to be honest) does not by itself rise to the level of trollery
Hell, it doesn’t even come close to the level of suggesting a topic or thread ban.
Maybe take a breath and understand not everybody is going to meet your high personal standards for posting
His contribution there seemed at least troll-adjacent. For example, at one point he asserted that the presidential limo was immediately scraped, scrubbed and then recommissioned. Not even the minimum forensic analysis you’d expect. How about that, huh? Doesn’t that smell like a conspiracy? What were they trying to hide?
It was debunked by several people who pointed out there was extensive forensic analysis and the limo wasn’t recommissioned till six months later.
Zero acknowledgment from him that the meat of his assertion had been obliterated. Rather, he acted as if his point had been that an artifact like this should have been preserved in a museum, and the fact that it wasn’t signified…something or other.
The guy is smart enough to know he offered a bullshit “fact,” and his subsequent hammering of a triviality as if he was right all along—well, call it what you will.
I was about to start a subthread in What You Were Thinking?, but yeah maybe he’s a better fit in here…

Also I agree that slicedalone is a nitwit. Not convinced he’s a troll but I’m not saying for sure he isn’t.
We’ll wake up one day and see Banned (Socking). I don’t know who, but he can really push some buttons.

It wouldn’t shock me either. The way he showed up out of nowhere and seemed very comfortable suggested a person with experience.
There has been the suggestion a few times upthread. I defer to the more experienced, veteran posters. IMHO the patterns make me suspicious, and we’ve had a few long time posters who were experts at manipulating the board prior to being exposed, so… very plausible.
But so far not seeing anything that qualifies as obvious trolling, just periodic smoke and a fair bit of arrogant assertations, which, to be fair, isn’t exactly uncommon to any of us.

Well, Aspenglow just came down on Slicedalone hard in “The case against Lee H. Oswald” thread. Pointed out all the jerkish behaviors, the refusal to provide cites, and utter lack of civility. AND pointed out it’s a behavior they’ve been modded for before. The mods are being summoned to consider said poster’s pattern of behavior.
I had largely stayed out of the thread because it doesn’t particularly interest me - few Conspiracy Theories do, but checking the lock summary, said poster was absolutely trying to push people’s buttons there, in a manner that I feel did edge past snarky one-upmanship into true trolling.
I have nothing to go by but a feeling here: he showed up soon after Roger That was banned. I’ve always wondered if they are one and the same. RT was more harsh, or a little meaner, in my memory, but there are similarities to their posting styles.
