Trolls R Us Resurrections

And directed by Milos Forman, a master of his trade. I never liked Jim Carrey in his comedies, but his serious roles in “Man On The Moon” and “The Truman Show” are top notch, and both films are among my favorites.

It’s a very good movie. Also includes the great song “Man on the Moon” by R.E.M.

You must look up his initial, nobody knows me, Latka voiced stand up comedian Elvis impersonation. It’s wonderful.

If you have the chance, check out The Majestic.

I believe it was his first dramatic attempt and I liked it. It’s a cute film and I thought he did a good job. He’s a confusingly good dramatic actor.

The movie fared poorly but consider that again, people expected Ace Ventura or The Mask and got a small, heartwarming film. Roger Ebert really liked it.

I know I liked the Majestic and the main character’s love of movies, but I barrely remember it now.

I also thought it was pretty good and remember enough of the plot to spoil it for someone who hasn’t seen it, but not enough to be able to provide a summary without spoiling it. That is, although I remember the main beats of the plot, I can’t remember which plot developments are obvious from the beginning (dramatic irony), and which come as a revelation to the viewer (spoilers if revealed).

Anyway, I’ve seen How Green Was My Valley and remember they had a reference to a cheesy plot point in that.

The first Jim Carrey movie I could stomach was The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I avoided it for a long time, but I ended up loving it.

The first time Kaufman did the Mighty Mouse bit on SNL, it was so bizarre. I was a big Mighty Mouse fan as a little kid, so at least I appreciated it at that level.

That’s the spirit!

So I figured it’s time to talk about JakeRS again. Previously discussion summary here:

Although some talk before and after, that was the consensus at the time.

@What_Exit was pretty even handed in closing their most recent brain-fart of a thread about being “open minded” using a definition that many found extremely questionable. But a review of their profile, shows that in addition to posting their random (and often IMHO deliberately controversial OPs) they hardly ever read anything.

Now that can still consistent with the prior evaluation, some stupid thought pops in, they post the question, and then stop caring… but seems weird to me at least. Alternately, they could be closer to HBDC (back to this in a second) and just want to appear to be a “free-thinker” and get their ideas out there to be admired but don’t actually care about the subject. Or…

Like HBDC (HoneyBadgerDC) they could IMHO be a troll. A less energetic one, but one who likes to throw a big stone in a pond and watching the splash while feeling superior to the creatures that live there.

Anyway, not a serious issue based on their comparatively infrequent posts, but felt it deserved another review.

Recently closed thread referenced above: why-is-the-term-open-minded-used-only-for-people-interested-in-certain-issues-rather-than-people-willing-to-debate-stuff

I think it’s really rude to post a thread and never come back to it, not even to say, “thanks for all the posts, it has given me something to think about”. In that now-closed thread, there were questions and requests for clarification, and that makes it even more rude not to return.

If I know I’m going to be unavailable for sometime after starting a thread, I’ll put that right in the OP. Jake is exceedingly rude if nothing else.

Righ,t but if you continue to say “thanks for all the posts, it has given me something to think about”, and then continue to spew the same nonsense later on in another thread, like HBDC does as opposed to the other troll, then it is also rude due to lying.

Not that these are exclusive categories, but it can also be an indication of a sock. Do all the reading and answering under one account, create provocative threads under another.

Back when the IMDb boards were a thing, I created a second account on there specifically to troll its members of the “Truth” Movement. While using a handle implying that my sock was a sock of a sock of a different debunker.

I certainly am not skilled enough to pick up poster-specific tells in general, but yeah, can’t rule that out.

Mostly I just wanted to address that sure, there are posters with bad habits who didn’t participate in good faith, but IMHO that the history of the poster combined with such habits moved past “bad poster” and into trolling.

Seven threads in a row created with no return to any of them.

Did anyone notice the new person who wanted someone to write him a list of every single death on The Sopranos, along with method?

Someone pointed him to the wiki page.

There are videos I watch of every Sopranos death, but I want a 5 words or fewer description of the cause/reason for each death/whacking. If none already exists, please type it for me?

That doesn’t seem very trollish.

It seemed demanding enough that it might have been. Until it was answered and he was satisfied.

I suspect a certain Croatian-named poster may have more Russian in him. He’s giving a good example of why ursine predators can be less intimidating.

I think you can be a little less cryptic than that, thankfully I know you mean M i s l a v in the Man, bear, woman, what’s the meme I’m missing thread.
