His first post was weirdly aggressive also. But that second one was straight out trolling.
That user name really has the feeling of coming from a very bad version of a “What’s your porn name?” generator.
Or maybe something like whatever tools CIA or DoD use to code-name their secret ops: one nonce word from column A, one from column B. But somebody smuggled the naughty list into column A.
I assumed it was a “funny” take on Menstrual Calendar and I only accept that level of humor from my close friends and you folks. Otherwise, a shunning!
I haven’t thought about Catholic birth “control” since “health” class in high school. You’re probably right about the name’s origin, but boy was that idea well buried in the sediment in my brain’s bilge.
Maybe it was banned former poster SlicedAlone, who clearly enjoys username puns.
Remember those old automatically generated AOL passwords?
Compuserve passwords were always amusing for me…. In the format childish*gambino or similar.
I still remember the password on the floppy with which I installed AOL (god) thirty years ago: dust dregs.
Hehehe, back when we rode dinosaurs and the internet was dial-up, I supported an ISP who had a password generator that generated new passwords in a random three letter, hyphen, another random three letters format. I had a trainee that was resetting the password for an 80 year or so old lady. It generated the password “gay-sex” for her. He wisely didn’t even ask me, he just generated a new password again and gave her the next result.
But it’d have been more memorable than even “correct horse battery staple”. Or is that “battery correct stable horse”? I can never remember. ![]()
Nowadays, I’m most familiar with those random-word strings from the online 3D design program Tinkercad, which gives every new design a default name when you create it (you can easily change it to something more descriptive). It seems to be deliberately biased towards silly words, though.
A while back I wanted to read a thread on Tumblr but needed an account to do it. It offered me a list of auto-generated usernames:
MurkyAndroidSamurai
RainyPixelFlux
SteadyTurtleUnicorn
WiseNinjaHomunculus
FrenziedWaveKraken
I had a hard time choosing between MurkyAndroidSamurai and WiseNinjaHomunculus, but decided on the samurai.
(I had some fun adapting those to AI prompts.)
Okay, much as I loathe AI, that picture is kind of fun.
Yeah; that’s a 5-way Battle Royale I’d pay to watch.
I was tickled by the name and images, and thus, behold my latest Character in City of Heroes: Homecoming
I did correct the grammar and spelling of the description after taking the pic, I promise.
Nice I have a couple of samurai on CoH.
One a mind control villain named “Atama”. ![]()
I think we got a live one, “CherokeeGunslinger”:
https://boards.straightdope.com/t/the-ice-shootings-in-minneapolis-1-7-2026/1026461/1307
Copy and paste to see it. Created minutes ago to post for the first time to stir shit up and defend murder as a “tactical error” in the ICE shooting P&E thread.
My guess is it’s a trock coming back for more.
Agreed 100%. He responded to a 3-week-old post in order to dredge up an argument that the thread has long since passed by. Considering how much drama, some of which is understandable some of which wasn’t I thought, that thread has created I can’t see this as anything but a deliberate attempt to troll the board. He knows exactly what he’s doing.
Just appeared in “Favorite Thing About Living in the USA” (MPSIMS). His favorite thing? The Second Amendment and blowing the hell out of his trash with his AR-15.
Troll using troll tools, goned.
DNFTT failed badly on this one.
