Ok, it seems I’ve obtained something that always makes my home page something that I don’t want. I’ve searched around and it looks like I need to download a spybot program. Problem is, every time I try to, the window closes. I tried about 15 links and finally managed to download the application, but when I try to run it, that window closes.
Whatever I got also senses when I’m trying to install a spybot and closes it. I’ve tried system restore and that never works either. Now what?
Most likely, it’s the CoolWebSearch smart killer, part of the CoolWebSearch hijackware. It will shut down spyware cleaning programs. You need to download both the smartkiller killer and CWShredder from Merijn.org.

If necessary install a download manager like Getright (www.getright.com/ ) and download that URL directly from the manager, That should circumvent the problem.
I finally got cwshredder to run, now everything seems fine…so far. I was able to run a spybot after cwshredder ran.
Cool. So long as you keep the spybot killer updated you shouldn’t have any more problems.
What do these people think they’re achieving by causing such turmoil? Do they really think people will put up with crap like that and use their stupid software and links pages if they behave in such an evil way as standard practice?
Once you downloaded, installed and cleaned your system, why not consider using a web browser that isn’t subject to these hijackings, and offers better surfing to boot?
They get paid by the number of hits on their web pages.
I’s also like to add that I installed something called IE settings lock. This greyed out the section where you can chose your homepage.
