Watching live on Sky News. NOT confirmed as a terrorist attack. 30 people reported killed as of now. A truck crashed into a group of people celebrating Bastille Day.

Just saw a quick report about this on the news. Just terrible.
No word yet on the reasons, but… a national celebration… France… large body count… it’s hard not to expect this is terrorism.
There have been reports of gunfire exchanged with police just after the truck crashed.
These incidents arent always terror related…

And yet I suspected it could be as soon as I saw the OP. It hasn’t been confirmed yet as a terrorist attack, but unfortunately we live in a world where it’s expected to turn out that way. It sounds awful, but I’d prefer it was just a drunk driver that did this.

Someone on another board found out about this because her sister texted that she and her husband were at a restaurant right by the truck. As of the latest update, they are huddled in the kitchen and the police are trying to figure out how to get them out of there, because there may be bombs.
This could be worse than anyone ever expected. :mad:

According to CNN, there are sources saying there are 60 people dead.
Sky News reporting that up to 60 are dead. Still a very unclear picture as to what happened.
At least 60 dead according to CNN. This is getting crazy. France is scary these days. I walked down that exact road 20 years ago. I feel terrible for the French people. And everything’s coming up Trump.
Wow. It seems unusual to kill that many people with just one vehicle. Was it just smashing into the crowd or was there shooting involved? Just horrible
I remember when that happened. It was like a mini-9/11 in L.A. Witnesses initially thought it was intentional, but it turned out some demented old guy panicked and hit the gas instead of the brake. :mad:
I haven’t read anything so far that confirms the Nice Incident (horrible thing to call it) was intentional, but also I haven’t read anything that rules it out. The truck driving for so long without slowing down is a chilling factor.

By the way, a question for any ISIS agents lurking here: What makes France so special? It seems like all the recent major terror attacks in Western Europe are in France or Belgium, but rarely anyplace else. Is it something unique about their foreign policy? Something to do with less diligent security? Why not Germany or Spain or Italy? Seriously, what’s the f’in deal?
More to do with their large immigrant population, I think. (Many of whom sympathize with IS).

There are lots of unconfirmed reports about other activity. The death count is now 70. It sounds like the driver picked up speed and aimed for the thick of the crowd.
They just said on CNN the carnage was spread over 2 km.
