Truckers vs Superbowl fans - who wins?

Absolutely. I labor under no delusions that I can make the world perfect. That doesn’t absolve me from my obligation to try to make it better, in however minuscule a fashion.

I also will pick up a discarded cigarette butt in the supermarket parking lot.

The misspelling of “led” is a huge pet peeve of mine, so I sympathize.

Where is the venn diagram showing the overlap of pedants and Zeppelin fans?

Sorry, but you didn’t make anything better. You made it weird.

Sure, but there are ways of doing it that don’t involve yelling at the guy who hadn’t noticed that the wind blew a cigarette butt out of his ash tray.

Then again, it is the Pit. So it’s fine, IMHO. But I couldn’t pass up the analogy once I thought of it.

It’s a fucking douchebag thing to do in the first fucking place. Jesus! Led, not lead??? If this hangs you up to the point where you will publicly call attention to someone, then you are a king fucking douchebag. But that’s you, I guess.

So, I’ve seen no coverage on it on NBC: Has the trucker convoy come to Los Angeles?

According to my friend who lives in the area. No. Traffic and parking are screwed up, but it always when there is a big event. She’s been keeping an ear out and hasn’t heard about more issues than usual.

Of course, the night is still young.

These multi-thousand ticket prices to see a fudball game are absurd. Is the game that different from other games all season? How do these prices compare with tickets to the World Series?

ETA: Don’t you get a better view on TV anyway, with all the camera angles and instant replays? I rarely watch sports (not being a sports fan), but I did happen to catch that inning when the Nats beat the Astros to win the Series in 2019. I probably wouldn’t have really seen what was happening as well if I had been there in person.

Many people are willing to pay for the “I was there” cachet.

It’s the appeal of an exclusive party. It’s a better deal than spending thousands on tickets and hats to see a two minute race in Louisville.

Really? No way were truckers going to alienate the people they want to support them. Make things a wreck for the government or liberals? HELL YA! Screw with the game I have $20 on with Louie at work? DIE!

Note to self: Remember, you’re sharing the planet with people who are wrong about things. Deal.

From FB, it appears real conservatives still aren’t watching the NFL after they allowed some players to disgracefully take a knee during the mandated playing of the True Patriots song. Did you hear…they even let that half-time rap guy take a knee? Disgusting!

You are under no obligation to correct people’s spelling on the internet.
That’s a very holier than thou attitude to have.

I don’t think the NFL even noticed. buh bye!

Nope. These snowflakes and their cancel culture aren’t very effective. Last I looked, Carhartt was still being sold as well.

I’d heard they specifically told him not to take a knee. But, oh well. Props to Slim Shady for that one.

I’m also not a big sports fan, but I’ve attended a few professional baseball games, and one college football game. From my experience its very easy to see whats going on in a baseball game from the seats. Its a simple game happening all out in the open. with all of the action well defined. Any closeups you might want from television are shown on the jumbotron, and being there gives you a better perspective of the scale and distances involved that you don’t get from TV. Also the game atmosphere with the fans is fun.

With football on the other hand I found it very difficult for me to see what was happening. about a third of the time the player I was watching make a big break and the player chasing him would slow down and walk back as I realized that he didn’t have the ball and the real play was somewhere else across the field, Maybe if I was more experienced it would be better but overall I think I would have enjoyed the game more sitting at home with a professional deciding where I should be looking.

Sparing hostages only incentivizes hostage-taking. Plus, these particular hostages very likely suffer from Stockholm syndrome anyway. So as tragic as the loss may be, it will have been the truckers who caused it.
